To celebrate two new La Coqueta styles on Over The Moon, the founder of the London-based, Spanish-made childrenswear brand Celia Muñoz is sharing her Dream Baby Registry. Celia’s five children are far from toddlers—Flavia (17), Lucas (16), Siena (15), Bosco (14), and Hugo (13)—but she adored dressing them when they were younger. “Now that they are older, I have less control,” she laughs. “I love traditional, timeless fashion for children, that still has a chic and contemporary style, whilst also being beautifully made, functional, and hard-wearing.  I would say that along with a love for fashion, La Coqueta was born out of necessity. I noticed that it was hard to find well-made, affordable and good quality pieces for daily wear, so I started to buy clothes for my children every time I would visit my hometown in Spain. As a proud Spaniard and designer, I represent the skills and craftsmanship that Spain really excels at.”

Celia’s approach to decorating her children’s bedrooms was in line with La Coqueta’s philosophy. “I wanted to create an environment that celebrated the magic of childhood whilst also being functional and personal to each of my children—a calming space to take them from a busy day to bath and bedtime!” she exclaims.I am a big lover of English wallpaper—so think Martha Armitage handmade printed wallpaper, 18th century French antiques that are quite worn out, flat weave plain Turkish rugs, lots of children’s books, vintage lamps, dollhouses, and wooden toys found in vintage art fairs.”

When it came to creating her baby registries, Celia admits she grew more practical when it came time to prepare for her third, fourth, and fifth baby. “I was also very mindful to pick pieces that could be passed on to the next baby and still look great,” she shares. However, the mom of five reflects on a few more sensory and special pieces she received: “Some of the most treasured pieces I received when my daughter Flavia was born included a recording of Bastien und Bastienne, one of Mozart’s earliest operas, written in 1768 when he was only twelve years old, and “Peter and the Wolf” by Prokofiev!”

Celia leaves us with a tried and true piece of advice about motherhood: “My parents always taught me that whatever makes me happy as a woman, mother, and individual is what will make your baby happy.”
