Nearly two years after LTK Australia Managing Director Rey Vakili and John Ingham’s whirlwind destination wedding at The White Lotus hotel in Sicily (a.k.a San Domenico Palace, Taormina, A Four Seasons Hotel), the pair are expecting their first child—a baby girl—next month and are sharing their Dream Baby Registry! “The timing has been perfect, as we are about to move into winter here in Australia and everything really does slow down,” Rey shares. “We always said we wanted to have a year together just the two of us before trying to start a family. I fell pregnant almost a year to the date when we were on holiday in Italy last summer.”
Their baby girl—whose currently-undecided name will be meaningful and possibly Italian or Persian (to pay homage to her parents’ backgrounds)—will have a nursery with a color palette of soft yellows and muted greens. “To me, these colors feel feminine and joyful without being overly girly,” Rey explains. “Our aesthetic is clean and minimal, lots of light timber, wicker, and a mix of vintage and modern pieces. I know the first few months can be a bit chaotic, so I want the space to feel as calming as possible for both myself and my bubba.”
For Dream Baby Registry inspiration, Rey credits none other than Over The Moon. “The curation is tasteful, creative, and unique. It features all my favorite baby brands like Atelier Choux and Marie-Chantal, but it’s also been a great place to source some epic pieces to style the bump,” Rey beams. “I have especially loved wearing Hill House Home and RosewaterHouse this pregnancy.”
One of Rey’s favorite things about creating her Dream Baby Registry was discovering new brands on Over The Moon “like Palaka, Little English, and Pehr,” she shares. “One of my best friend’s just had her first baby, and I ended up ordering a beautiful personalized brush for her from Palaka. It’s a great place to find thoughtful, one-off gift ideas that mums and bubs will cherish!”
When it comes to her own Dream Baby Registry, Rey holds onto the registry advice to prioritize essentials in the early days to ease stress. “But I’ve also picked out a handful of aesthetically beautiful trinkets that simply spark joy—I couldn’t resist!” she exclaims. “And don’t forget about yourself! It’s important that you feel great in the first few months too, so think beautiful nurse-friendly loungewear, chic slippers, and a cosy robe.”
Rey and John can’t wait to be parents and meet their little girl and watch her personality develop. “I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little terrified,” Rey admits. “That said, I think one of the wonderful things about pregnancy is that it’s so long. It really gives you the time you need to process and prepare for what is to come. It also creates this sense of build-up and anticipation; it’s impossible not to feel excited by the end. . . I think the thing I am most excited about is seeing my husband as a girl dad. I know watching him with her will be one of the most beautiful parts of this journey. He is sandwiched between two sisters, so really he’s been preparing for this moment his whole life.”
