Ever since Galvan launched a few years ago, it has become a go-to destination for cool girls looking for sleek and sexy evening wear dresses—and what more could you expect of a brand launched by four stylish globetrotting women? Then earlier this year, Galvan announced it was entering the bridal market and modern brides around the world rejoiced; finally an easy solution for those looking for something clean and fashion forward—not exactly common in bridal boutiques—to wear on their wedding day.
Luckily, their entry into the bridal industry doesn’t stop at wedding dresses. Starting tomorrow, Over The Moon will be offering up an exclusive line of Galvan bridesmaid dresses, which you’ll surely start seeing on Instagram come next wedding season. Dresses will be available in popular color palettes such as pale mint and dusty rose, and will be offered in a variety of figure-flattering silhouettes. (Trust us, your girlfriends will love you forever if you go with Galvan.)
In honor of our upcoming collaboration, we revisited Galvan’s co-founder Katherine Holmgren’s 2016 wedding in Spain to Erik Serrano Berntsen, CEO of Stable Asset Management.
Since the groom was originally from Madrid, the couple knew from the start that they wanted to have a Spanish wedding. “We chose to do it in Seville instead of Madrid, since we both love the city,” Katherine explained to Vogue.com. “It’s an intoxicating place, so romantic and historic, but also full of energy. It comes alive during hot summer nights.”
Katherine was actually the first person to wear a Galvan bridal gown, after her partners designed for her a custom-made dress inspired by the romantic style of Seville. The end result featured three different kinds of lace and incorporated lined and unlined panels. (Galvan now offers a similar style at their stores.) “For weeks Anna Haas, who is also one of my partners and the design director of Galvan, oversaw every step of its creation in the atelier, and 20 minutes before I got dressed she was still perfecting it,” Katherine remembers.
On a summery Saturday night in June, guests of the couple gathered at the old carriage hall of the Hacienda Majaloba to witness Katherine and Erik’s wedding ceremony. “I loved that it felt like an intimate chapel with the arches and long aisles,” she says. “We brought in white flowers and candles, and on every seat we had a hand-painted red fan.”
Cocktails and aperitifs were then served in the hacienda’s orange grove, where fresh Serrano ham was cut and croquettes were passed around. Later, dinner was set on the front lawn, where guests were seated at three long tables decorated with white candles and white flowers such as peonies, hyacinth, and jasmine.
Once toasts and dinner were over, the party got started at a surprise disco set up in an inner courtyard, where a DJ had the crowd on their feet until 7:00 a.m. For those who needed a late-night pick me up, a taco truck was thankfully stationed outside, while a photo station with traditional Spanish props provided some extra entertainment until the sun came out!
