The Best Bridal Stores in New York City

By Patricia Garcia

One of the most consistent questions we get again and again from our followers is where one should go for bridal dress shopping when in New York. After all, brides from across the country come to the Big Apple searching for “the one.” But sometimes having too many options can feel overwhelming, which is why we’ve conveniently narrowed down the best bridal stores in New York. From boutique shops to one of the largest bridal stores in the world, below our top twelve places to find a wedding dress in NYC.

Mark Ingram Atelier

Mark Ingram Atelier
The mecca of wedding dress shopping, Mark Ingram Atelier is known for its curated collection of high end designers, like Monique Lhuillier and Naeem Khan, and their steady stream of can’t-miss trunk shows. There’s a reason why seventeen years later, this boutique remains one of the top names in the industry, Ingram’s taste is simply impeccable. Make sure to book an appointment with plenty of time as slots can fill up months in advance.

Amsale
Set in a light-filled loft above Madison Avenue, the bridal salon reflects the legendary designer’s philosophy of chic simplicity. Amsale Aberra, herself, helped to put the modern wedding dress on the map with pristine lines, timeless style, and impeccable craftsmanship. That’s exactly what you’ll find gracing the floor-to-ceiling views here, making it a must for brides in search of a sophisticated wedding wardrobe in one stunning space. At all appointments you’ll be welcomed with champagne and some of the warmest service in the city.

Saks Fifth Avenue Bridal Salon
The Fifth Avenue department store’s chic bridal salon has one of the best trunk show schedules in town. Much like Mark Ingram, it mostly focuses on high end designers, but here the selection also includes some international names like Zuhair Murad and Jenny Packham. Offerings are mostly in the traditional bridal arena, but one definite perk for brides is that once they find their dress, they can easily walk down the escalators to Saks’s vast shoe section to finish off their look.

The Bridal Salon at Moda Operandi
For bridal designs straight off the runway, the best bet is to head up to Moda Operandi’s townhouse in the Upper East Side. There you’ll find everything from high-end wedding gowns from designers such as Danielle Frankel, Costarellos, and Mira Zwillinger, plus stylish options for your fashion-forward bridal party, as well.

Lovely Bride

Lovely Bride
What started off as a small boutique in a West Village townhouse has now morphed into a 14-store nationwide bridal brand with gorgeous headquarters in Tribeca. Instead of the usual bold designer names, Lovely focuses on smaller, indie designers like Alexandra Greco, Rime Arodaky, and Vagabond. Plus, the store’s blush interiors and watercolor wallpaper will almost make you want to share photos of your fittings on Instagram—almost.

Bergdorf Goodman
Trunk shows are the draw at Bergdorf Goodman’s small but mighty bridal salon located on the seventh floor of the storied department store. They carry a similar collection as the one in Saks, but their customer service is unrivaled. From time to time, brides also have the opportunity to meet and speak with designer’s at their own trunk show, too.

Gabriella New York
For the less traditional, Gabriella New York is the place to go. Located in a beautiful loft in SoHo, Gabriella will appeal to fashionable brides looking for a chic wedding dress that feels different. Their collection includes big bridal names like Lela Rose, Marchesa, and Reem Acra—but also indie and up-and-coming brands such as Lihi Hod, Sophie Et Voila, and Untamed Petals.

Kleinfeld
If you’ve seen Say Yes to the Dress, you’re probably familiar with Kleinfeld. Spanning over 35,000 square feet, Kleinfeld has the largest selection of wedding dresses in the world, so if you’re looking for a lot of options, this is the place for you. Aside from their vast collection of local and international designers, the store is also well known for their team of expert stylists, tailors, and bridal consultants that help make an often exhausting experience as easy and seamless as possible.

Spina Bride

Spina
Located in a Greenwich Village carriage house, the charming Spina boutique is where brides go for a more intimate wedding dress shopping experience. The store only handles one appointment at a time (so make sure to book well in advance!) and brides and their family and friends are treated to tea and slippers as soon as they walk in. As for their collection, Spina is mainly stocked with emerging international designers like Liz Martinez, A La Robe, and Claudia Tiffany.

BHLDN
BHLDN started out as an online-only retailer, but now thankfully has opened two stores in New York City: one on the Upper East Side and one in midtown’s Garment District. By appointment only, BHLDN is known for their unbeatable price points, so if you’re working with a tight budget, you’re sure to find plenty of options here.

Oscar de la Renta
An overwhelmingly large number of Over The Moon brides have found their dress at Oscar de la Renta’s store in Manhattan. Aside from their beautiful bridal looks, ODLR also offers options for flowers girls, stationery, and a stunning collection of accessories.

Carolina Herrera
For decades, brides have flocked to Carolina Herrera’s flagship store on Madison Avenue for the brand’s sophisticated and timeless wedding gowns. Now headed by creative director Wes Gordon, their small collection of bridal offerings remains just as romantic and elegant as ever.

Vera Wang
A favorite amongst celebrity brides, Vera Wang is one of the world’s most renowned bridal designers. The store carries a mix of RTW and couture designs, and offers impeccable customer service. In the eternal words of Emma Allan from Bride Wars: “Do you think there’s something better than Vera Wang?” We think not.
