Seashell Sky and Cara Cara Citrus and Joelle Dot—oh my! Last week, Over The Moon founder, Cara Cara co-founder and OTM Directory Planner Calder Clark hosted a spring dinner in Charleston to celebrate the latest Cara Cara and Over The Moon Capsule. A stylish crowd gathered on the terrace of Legami for a romantic evening, inspired by an Italian summer—the same inspiration for the collection.
The event transformed the beloved downtown restaurant into an ode to la dolce vita—complete with citrus motifs, playful polka dots, candlelight, and a guest list filled with many of Charleston’s most fashionable women like Cameran Wimberly, Venita Aspen, Liz Adams, Natalie Steen, Megan Stokes, and Capucine de Wulf.
Designed in collaboration with Calder Clark and her team, the evening unfolded like a cinematic dinner party somewhere along the Amalfi Coast. Guests entered to find tables dressed in Stradley Davidson linens and layered with vibrant arrangements by Sara York Grimshaw, while Emerson James curated a tablescape featuring tabletop pieces available through Over The Moon. Cheree Berry’s whimsical paper goods incorporated prints from the collection itself, including interactive menus with playful polka-dot flaps that revealed each upcoming course.
“This milieu almost makes me believe we’re somewhere along the Amalfi Coast with the cast of The Talented Mr. Ripley—the 1999 version, of course,” Macon joked during her welcome toast. “But truthfully, that was the intention of this limited-edition capsule: to bring a touch of Italian style to your wardrobe, wherever you are in the world this season.”
The collection’s three prints—ranging from cheerful citrus to seashell motifs and graphic polka dots—served as the evening’s visual throughline. “Each design brings its own mood,” Hobbs shared during her remarks, “but together they tell the full story of the season with color, warmth, and a collaboration that makes us want summer to last a little longer.”
Throughout the evening, guests lingered over four Italian-inspired courses crafted by Legami, sipping chilled cocktails and comparing favorite looks from the capsule between courses. Rather than feeling overly formal, the atmosphere struck the balance both brands have become known for: elegant, celebratory, and deeply personal.
“And the night only gets sweeter from here,” Clark announced as the final course arrived. Dessert came in the form of lemon gelato—a nod to the kind of palate-cleansing treat one might stumble upon while wandering cobblestone streets in Italy. Before departing into the warm Charleston night, guests collected thoughtfully assembled gift bags, including bottles of Avaline rosé, extending the evening’s spirit of summer escapism just a little longer.
For one evening at least, Charleston felt a world away from South Carolina—and much closer to Capri.
