Oh La La! A Très Magnifique Bridal Wardrobe for a Wedding in France

By Shayna Seid

It seems like everyone is having a summer wedding in France, non? Et pourquoi pas? France has the countryside, the ocean, the Mediterranean Sea, the fashionableness the French are famous for, arguably the best cheese and wine, and the City of Love—it sounds like the recipe for the perfect wedding weekend.

During the last weekend in June, it felt like all eyes were on France and the nuptials of three well-known ladies. Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas started their party in Paris with Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra, among other friends. And then, the young, famous duo moved on to Provence for a relaxing stay before the festivities began at Château de Tourreau, where Turner walked down the aisle in a Louis Vuitton gown designed by the house’s creative director Nicolas Ghesquière.

Over the same weekend, Charlotte Casiraghi and Dimitri Rassam had their religious ceremony in the south of France, too. The newlyweds exchanged vows at the Abbaye Sainte-Marie de Pierredon, and the bride wore a stunning Giambattista Valli dress.

And again, on the same exact weekend in Paris, Zoë Kravitz and Karl Glusman threw their second wedding (the two had a civil ceremony earlier this year) at Lenny Kravitz’s home, after hosting a rehearsal dinner at Lapérouse restaurant, where she wore a netted-pearl ensemble with bike shorts and a bra top by Danielle Frankel.

Now do you believe us? Vive la France—it’s the summer of the French wedding after all! Which brings us to: What to wear if you’re in the midst of planning your own nuptials and you want to embrace the whimsical insouciance these chic brides seemed to so easily embody?

Enter Moda Operandi’s trunk show. For the uninitiated, Moda Operandi is basically our favorite e-commerce site ever. Why? Because it always has the best edit, and we love that you can get looks and pieces ahead of time—paying half upfront and the rest upon delivery. It’s like high fashion layaway, and it makes extra sense if you’re wedding planning. Because who doesn’t want to check “Find Wedding Wardrobe” off of the ole To Do List? That definitely sounds better than trying to lock in a rehearsal dinner dress last minute.

To that end, we scoured Moda Operandi, and put together a curated list of wedding weekend appropriate looks that are trés chic and cover all of the bases, from the welcome party to the pool day to the après après after-party and everything in between. All of the pieces we selected are from Moda Operandi’s 2020 Trunkshow, and are available for pre-order online—but it won’t last forever, so start shopping tout suite!
