Kate Spade and Keds have collaborated on a collection of bridal sneakers that are made for walking down the aisle or dancing all night at the after-party. Their new line of wedding tennis shoes is well suited for the bride who wants to prioritize function, but isn’t willing to totally abandon form and fashion.

Perhaps they were inspired by the “sneaker bar” at Serena Williams’s recent wedding? At her fairytale inspired nuptials in New Orleans, the queen of the court worked with event planner Jennifer Zabinski of JZ Events and designer Preston Bailey to have a gifting station set up. After dinner and a live performance, all of the female guests were encouraged to stop by and pick up their pair of white tennis shoes emblazoned with the newlyweds’ monogram. Beyoncé, Ciara, and other ladies in attendance then took off what likely had become painful heels and stilettos and slipped into their new comfy sneaks to dance the night away. Meanwhile, the bride changed into bedazzled disco-ready Nike Cortez running shoes.

Serena wasn’t the first trendsetting bride to sport sneakers though. Actress Kimberly Williams’s character of Annie in the Nancy Meyers’ classic Father of the Bride could be responsible for kicking off the trend. She famously wore her dad’s brand of Sidekick sneakers under her long-sleeve lace wedding gown in the 1991 classic.

In the case of this particular collaboration, the designers made sure the shoes looked extra special with feminine embellishments and touches of “something blue.” Check out the entire collection on Nordstrom now and score a pair before they’re sold out!
