Viktor&Rolf Bridal Spring 2022 Collection

By Shayna Seid

This season, Viktor&Rolf celebrate the five-year anniversary of the Mariage collection. Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren aimed to introduce bridalwear with a fashion edge, and to present spring 2020, they wanted to create a “feeling of suspense juxtaposed by glam Hollywood styling” for their lookbook, shot at the Amstel Hotel in Amsterdam.

Not only is this season, of course, beautiful to look at, the launch accompanies Viktor&Rolf’s uniting with the OTB Foundation to support VOW for Girls, the growing global movement that is ending the international child marriage crisis. “Marriage should be a dream for everyone,” Horsting and Snoeren say.

Regarding the collection, which is produced in partnership with bridal manufacturer Justin Alexander, the house’s couture elements like elaborate bows, tiered volant, cascades of sheer organza, and tulle ruffles are reimagined. A selection of pieces are is crafted out of crepe and mikado with a slight stretch, which allows the dresses to perfectly mold to the bride’s shape. And the “Duchesse Drama” high-low gown is made out of eco-friendly satin duchesse—listening to clients who are becoming more sustainable and environmentally conscious.
