On this past Canada Day, NASCAR reporter Alexa Dobson and Montreal Canadiens hockey player Noah Dobson wed at the same Newport church, where Jacqueline Lee Bouvier and John F. Kennedy exchanged vows. “I’ll never forget the look on Noah’s face—the way he smiled as I walked down the aisle with my dad,” Alexa recalls. The newlyweds and their 200 guests then made their way to Rosecliff Mansion to celebrate. To further celebrate their entrance into married life, Alexa is giving us a glimpse into her wedding weekend and sharing her Over The Moon Dream Registry:
The bride wore an unexpected, dark Vera Wang dress to her welcome party, followed by a Rita Vinieris strapless wedding dress, the next day. “I love her designs and she is a Canadian designer. Since Noah is Canadian, and we were married on Canada Day, it felt like the perfect fit,” Alexa explains. For the reception, she changed into a Galia Lahav sparkly dress. “I was a theatre major in college, so I have a tendency to be a little theatrical, and this show-stopping dress did just that.”
While her roots may be in drama, Alexa describes her own aesthetic as “sporty, tailored, and chic.” And she’s bringing that style to their first home in Canada on Prince Edward’s Island. “We tend to lean into a minimalistic mix of a contemporary traditional farmhouse if that makes sense—a neutral palette of creams and black.” While the bride loves every part of designing their new home, she adds, “Noah’s favorite part of decorating was designing the gym with glass barn garage doors and beams.”
“We are honestly excited about everything on our registry, [from] pots and pans to china,” Alexa beams. The newlyweds are moving from a condo on Long Island, so they’re starting this new chapter with a lot more space to fill. “I am so excited to host big beautiful holiday dinners with family and friends and set a beautiful table for everyone someday. I love the Waterford crystal glasses with the black drip, such a cool twist on traditional. I really love them because I can mix them with all different shaped Waterford crystal glasses from my grandmother and my mom…I feel like these black Waterford drip glasses describe our vibe–traditional with an edge.”
Alexa leaves us with advice for couples making their Over The Moon Registries: “Start early to enjoy the process. Like everyone says, the engagement flies by, and it gets super crazy close to the wedding, whether you are having a big or small wedding—so many details & decisions! We have made so many changes to the registry. Noah is really busy during the season…I would show him a lot online, and he graciously said, ‘I love it, if you do.’ He would also note when he was not crazy about something, so that helped us find our way. It’s such a fun and exciting year being fiancés.”
