After three-and-a-half years together, Kyle Torrence surprised Over The Moon Top Planner Jove Meyer with a proposal in Palm Springs. A short while later, Jove romantically counter-proposed to Kyle at The Metropolitan Opera—one of his favorite places—before a performance of Romeo & Juliet. Having both bended down on one knee, the couple are eyeing a wedding date for next summer and are contemplating a New York City venue. And ahead of saying, “I do,” Jove is creating his Dream Over The Moon Registry.
One of our favorite wedding planners describes his aesthetic as “bold, colorful, fun!” and shares that feeling leads his interior design direction. “When I walk into a space or a room, I want to think first about how I feel, how I want to feel in that space that combined with the function of the space will help create the best design for it,” Jove says. “I love to sit in a space and dream up what can be, look at it from different angles, and not fall into the trap of doing things the way they have always been done, but instead do things the best way for the space and its needs.”
As Jove and Kyle have opposite styles, their friend and interior designer, Jae Joo, has been a big support and keeps things cohesive. “He loves the gilded, gold, old-world beauty, and I lean more contemporary, colorful, and clean!” Jove describes. “We moved in together two years ago, and it has been a journey to navigate decorating our home together with such different styles, but we have found a way to merge the old and new and create our own style!”
When it came to their OTM Dream Registry, Jove focused on items that would aid in hosting friends and family. The Sveva’s Home personalized scalloped plates are at the top of his list. “I love hosting dinner parties and these fabulous scalloped hand-painted plates that can be personalized are just so fab,” Jove shares. “I can imagine a guest finishing dinner and discovering our initials or sweet words, under their meal, which would be so special.”
The Tricia Lowenfield Champagne bowl with monogram is also a fun way to keep the wedding memories alive way beyond the day. “I love bubbles and this Champagne bowl that can be personalized feels so me,” Jove says. “I would use this custom bowl while getting ready on the wedding day with friends and many times after for dinner parties and gatherings at home.”
For bringing more color into their space, Jove also highlights the Le Creuset Signature bread oven and the Oomph Home Capri mirror. “I want to bake more bread at home—beyond focaccia, I dream of a sourdough loaf, so this bread oven is perfect for that,” he states. “I love that it comes in various colors, so it can match the rest of the kitchen items and design.”
Having seen countless couples go through this process through the years, Jove leaves us with his top guidance for those making their Over The Moon Registry: “Have fun with your registry, shoot for the stars with some of the items you select, and also have items that are at an accessible price point so everyone has a chance to gift you, at all price ranges. A registry is a chance to build a home with your partner, or upgrade the home you have already built, whatever your circumstance is aim high, have fun, and be sure you add things you want and will use, as no one needs more things collecting dust. If you’re not a couple who needs or wants things, then spring for an experience and or experiences.”
