Emily Satloff, founder and designer of jewelry brand Larkspur & Hawk, recently celebrated her 30th wedding anniversary with husband James Satloff. On April 27, 1991, Emily said, “I do,” at The Metropolitan Club in New York City. And to celebrate this year, the two went to Pastis for an al-fresco lunch. “Somehow lunch always feels more special occasion than dinner because you steal time that is not really free,” she shares. There, she presented him with a Vacheron Constantin watch, and she received a beautiful Van Cleef ring. Later, their two sons joined them for dinner on Wards Island.
In celebration of her milestone anniversary and new heart-shaped Larkspur & Hawk pieces launching on Over The Moon, Emily wanted to create a Dream Registry for an imagined, intimate 30th anniversary celebration with loved ones at her family’s home outside the city on the water. “I love the mix of colorful garden dresses mixed with my jewelry designs!” she exclaims. “I imagine a beautiful outdoor setting filled with color from what the guests are wearing and a beautiful tablescape.”
Unsurprisingly, the designer loves color and mixing antique pieces with modern ones. “I am a collector of antiques and unusual things,” she says. “When I decorated my home, I started with a few important pieces that dictated the rest of the space. For example, I found an early 20th-century lacquered dressing table and chair that I use as my desk. The rest of my home office worked harmoniously around this piece.”
Emily only wishes that all our colorful tabletop items were available when she was making her own wedding registry. “Everything seemed so serious and grown up when we got married, so I am loving all of the whimsy,” she explains. “It’s also great to find a place that is a one-stop-shop for brides offering beautiful clothing, jewelry, and accessories. I love how OTM has everything a bride could dream of for all the events leading up to the wedding and the honeymoon!”
And for this 30th anniversary Dream Registry, Emily specifically has her eye on Pomelo Casa’s pitcher and other dinnerware. “I love discovering new brands and the handmade artisanship and beautiful designs really speak to me!” she exclaims.
Of course, she also paired her fashion picks—like Agua by Agua Bendita dresses—with the Larkspur & Hawk Valentina collection. “Unlike many contemporary heart-shaped stones, the Valentina heart pays homage to the less articulated scalloped heart of the Georgian period,” the designer expertly explains. “Not only were these hearts the result of less-advanced lapidary skills, but also, they reference an anatomical heart, which is just so romantic!”
And finally, Emily leaves us with key advice for couples creating their own wedding registries now: “Don’t save ‘fancy’ china for special occasions—use what you love any time!”
