While most brides and grooms are overloaded with a zillion wedding related to-dos, Julia Amory decided to design her own linens. Unable to find the perfect print at an affordable cost, she created her own patterns using the Indian block print technique and produced all of the napkins and tablecloths for her own Southampton wedding herself. And now we award her BRIDE OF THE CENTURY!

What is your favorite way to incorporate India Amory into a bridal party (Shower, Bachelorette or Wedding Day)?
I went hardcore on the India Amory use at my own wedding—using our tablecloths on all of the tables (see the full feature here). Personally for the right kind of party nothing is more elegant or fun than a printed tablecloth and the same goes for a shower. I love seeing bridal parties in mixed pattern robes, or all of the bridesmaids in one pattern the bride in her own. We’ve also done coordinating boxers for the groomsmen which is always fun as well! I love the pareos for a bridal party as well which if you’re getting married somewhere tropical is so chic.

Color coordinated outfits . . . branded feels cheesy
At the end of the wedding are you wearing heels, flip flops or barefeet?
Likely still wearing my heels—I’m won’t wear a pair unless I know they’re going to work for the long haul. Ankle straps are a good trick under a long dress—great way to minimize the klutz factor.
Do your own make up/hair or get it done?
To each his own—as the bride, I suggest getting your makeup done mostly because it will last 10x longer. That being said, I’m super particular about hair and makeup so trials (many PLURAL, until it was perfect) were a must. Be vocal about what you like and don’t like and bring photos—communicating with your team is key prior to the day of madness and crucial for avoiding a meltdown. As a bridesmaid, or even for events, 9 times out of 10, I will do my own hair and makeup—mastering a false lash is a life changing skill set that anyone can do and will save you a ton of money on Glamsquad in the long run! The trick is to trim the lashes from the inner corner—Kiss makes the best ones, try the blooming daisy lash—you can thank me later. And Buxom lipgloss—a game changer, my color pic is Dani and hot rollers are a must (easiest way to fake a blowout).
Double sided tape or safety pins?
Hmmm neither. I’m way into tailoring. It’s so worth it to make sure everything fits you perfectly. As Jackie O used to say—you should even tailor your white T-shirts.
