Honeymoon Itinerary: A Mini-Moon in Lanai, Hawaii

By Over The Moon
Our home for the next few days, The Four Seasons Lanai.

After tying the knot in a seaside garden ceremony in Kauai, Katie Durko, founder of social media agency The Edit, and music manager Adrian Karvinen jetted off for a mini-moon on the secluded island of Lanai. “It was a quick plane ride away and allowed us to relax and recharge for five days after a week of wedding festivities,” Katie says. The newlyweds stayed at the Four Seasons Lanai, one of the few hotels in the 141-square mile, privately owned island, and enjoyed a short week of eating, hiking, and lots of poolside cocktail drinking. For those researching potential honeymoon destinations, Katie shares her guide (and personal pics) to a dreamy getaway at one of the most romantic places in Hawaii.

TO DO

Cat Sanctuary: Also known as ‘The Furr Seasons,’ this is the perfect day time activity for all the cat lovers out there—myself included!

Koele Ranch: Meet the most adorable mini horses at the stables here!

Hulopo’e Bay: A beautiful beach that is just a five-minute walk from the hotel. Great for snorkeling, surfing or just relaxing in one of the hotel chaise lounges.

Hotel Pool: The Four Season’s adult-only pool is tucked among the palm trees and was designed to mimic the island’s cliffs. Perfect spot for laying out with a good book.

Manele Golf Course: My husband’s favorite activity while we were in Lanai! It is the only golf course in Hawaii that has panoramic ocean views at every single hole. Bonus: the golf carts have GPS, so you can order food and drinks to be delivered to you on the green at any time.

Sweetheart Rock Hike: One of the most iconic landmarks on Lanai and just a short hike from the hotel.

Lanai Movie Theatre: On Tuesday nights, the movie theatre in town offers complimentary movie tickets for Four Seasons guests.

TO EAT

FS Breakfast Buffet: The buffet at the Four Seasons is incredible. You’ll be full until dinner!

Malibu Farms: Get your California fix here. This poolside restaurant offers organic and locally sourced food from the Malibu Farm Harvest Garden on property.

Nobu: Not to be missed! Menu ingredients come straight from the restaurant’s own Lanai farm. Make sure to sit on the patio for stunning views of the bay during sunset.

Cocktail class: Every day at 5:00 p.m., the Four Seasons offers a complimentary cocktail making class. It’s a fun way to meet other hotel guests and learn a new skill. Plus, who doesn’t love a free cocktail or two?

Lanai Ohana Poke Market: Go here for truly authentic poke. Fresh ahi tuna served in a paper bowl over rice—no frills here!
