Highsnobiety Brand Partnerships Director Alexandra Bair and Miles Wehrung, who works at Deloitte, are a blind date success story. They met at Anfora in the West Village and connected over the importance of family, friends, travel, and good music, food, and drinks.
After five years together, Miles proposed to Alex while doing a new hiking trail in Connecticut. 10 minutes into the hike, the outdoor-loving couple realized they’d done a small loop. Miles surely didn’t realize how short it would be, so he promptly suggested another go. “Once we got to the mid-way point, he proposed with a ring he had designed—which was my absolute dream ring,” Alex shares. “It was emotional, personal, and so ‘us.’”
Once engaged, the couple started looking for venues, originally in Rhode Island. However, Miles’s father is French and has family in Cassis, so they packed their bags for the South of France to tour options. Perched on a cliff overlooking the sea, Domaine de Canaille checked all of their boxes and was the ideal place to host everyone for a week. To help bring their vision to life, Alice Medland of Jesse Tombs took the planning reins, and Sophie Berard lensed every special moment.
“I knew from the jump that I wanted to wear Danielle Frankel,” the bride states of her ceremony dress. “I have absolutely loved her designs for years and frankly couldn’t picture myself in anything else.” The Leona dress was the timeless look of Alex’s dreams. “My favorite elements of the dress are the sleeves, the thin straps, and the gorgeous tulle overlay. We customized it slightly by taking the back down to a V shape.”
Alex styled her wedding dress with pearl drop earrings from Kinn, satin slingbacks from Manolo Blahnik, and a tennis bracelet that her mother had gifted the bride for her 30th birthday. On the day-of, Margot Priolet gave Alex the perfect no-makeup makeup look with a slicked back bun that was playfully referenced as “the croissant” because of its shape.
Miles looked handsome in a custom Alan David suit with Giorgio Armani patent leather shoes.
On May 25, 2024, Alex walked down the hydrangea-lined aisle by Nuude Botanica with her parents—a nod to her coastal New England roots. A string quartet played “What a Wonderful World,” as the trio headed toward the front of the house. “When I saw Alex walk down the aisle, I blacked out for a second,” the groom remembers. “It felt as if I was experiencing our entire lives together, all in a split second. I couldn’t believe how beautiful her dress was and how beautiful she was wearing it. I was completely overcome with emotion.”
The couple’s good friend, Charlie, officiated the service. Then Alex’s mom surprised everyone by doing a reading written by her own mother for her own wedding. “No one knew the reading was written by my grandma until the end of the reading, which made everyone extremely emotional,” the bride explains.
To conclude the ceremony, Alex and Miles chose to exchange personal vows in front of their 75 guests. “We still reflect on our vows today, and we say that we don’t think the wedding would have been the same if we didn’t say them in front of everyone,” the bride shares.
After being announced as officially married, the couple joined their loved ones on the terrace with a view of the sea. Guests found their seats via tile-inspired escort cards by Jubilee Paper. Then, the newlyweds shared a first dance to “Thank You” by Bonnie Raitt before dining on a delicious French meal by Frédéric Bernard.
Later on, The Sparkle Band had everyone on their feet, and around midnight, the deejay took over for the after-party until 2 a.m. “Once the deejay stopped, we were still up until 5 a.m. dancing!” Alex exclaims. “We didn’t want the night to end.”
