Hedge fund investor Andrea Lin and WedWallet Co-Founder Dawid Perkowski met at a Washington, D.C., climbing gym, and their first conversation was about running and Oreos. “We connected instantly, but romance was the last thing on our minds,” Andrea remembers. “Yet after months of spending nearly every day together as best friends, something shifted. During a casual game of mini golf, we accidentally held hands, and very quickly we realized something had been building between us all along.”

They moved from the East Coast to the Bay Area together, where Dawid proposed. “We wanted to get married in a place that felt truly special, somewhere with history, character, and enough privacy,” Andrea says. Together with Over The Moon Editor’s Pick Planner Emily Coyne Events, they found that at Beaulieu Garden, and they had a specific aesthetic in mind, one inspired by chinoiserie and meaningful flowers. “Our wedding crest featured peonies and poppies, the national flowers of China and Poland, representing our family histories and where our family immigrated from,” Andrea describes. “My family has been deeply rooted in international trade for generations, with a legacy that dates back to the 18th century, a time period where open trade inspired chinoiserie in Europe. Today, both of my parents still lead global trade conglomerates that span multiple industries and continents. For us, chinoiserie wasn’t just a design choice, it was a symbol of cultural exchange and the coming together of two worlds.”

Every detail was personal and intentional, but none more so than Andrea’s fashion. It began with the welcome dinner look. Andrea and Over The Moon Style Director Grace Givens worked directly with Danielle Frankel for nearly a year on a custom look. “We blended a few of Frankel’s existing silhouettes and built a design inspired by the opulence of Tang Dynasty women,” Andrea says. “The floral motif was handpainted onto the fabric, then pleated by hand, creating something that truly felt like a wearable piece of art.” Grace sourced a pair of Belle Époque earrings by Briony Raymond, Roger Vivier heels, and a vintage-inspired Judith Leiber clutch to complete the look, and Dawid had his custom suit color-matched to complement the dress.

For the big day, Andrea and Grace turned to Oscar de la Renta, and the design team created a custom snowrose motif for the wedding dress. “It was inspired by the flowers from a tree my parents planted in our garden the day I was born,” Andrea says. “That tree has always felt like a quiet symbol of home, and since we couldn’t bring it with us to our new life in Marin, I wanted it to walk me down the aisle. Grace and I decided to keep the neck clean and wear only earrings. I wore a pair of earrings custom-designed with 12 carats of pear-shaped diamonds that look like three water droplets. It was my way of honoring my Chinese name, which carries a triple-water radical in the character 沁.”

Before the reception, Andrea changed into a second Oscar de la Renta look. “This one was semi-custom and inspired by Art Nouveau stained glass,” she says. “The way light peeked through the gown was incredible, and it was the perfect time to wear it during golden hour. The atelier built a custom corset inside to shape it perfectly to my body.” She paired this dress with even more diamonds: an 88-carat necklace gifted by her father for the occasion and designed with the same snowrose motif.

As her final look, she selected a style from the fashion house’s Pre-Fall 2025 collection, again with meaningful florals. “I changed into a dress embroidered with cherry blossoms as a tribute to Washington, D.C., the city where Dawid and I met and fell in love,” Andrea explains. “It was a very last-minute decision to add it to my wardrobe, but as soon as I saw it, I knew it belonged in my closet.”

Dawid’s fashion choices honored family, as well. “Andrea’s stepfather, P.H. Wang, designed both of my tuxedos and oversaw every detail, from fabric selection to final construction,” the groom says. “He was formerly the head designer at Nanshan Fashion, one of the largest public fashion companies in China, known for dressing APEC world leaders, Olympic committees, and NBA players. It meant a lot to have someone in the family so deeply involved.” Dawid opted for a classic look with a shawl lapel black tuxedo.

Bridesmaids wore Oscar de la Renta, bespoke Beth & Brian, and Gemy Maalouf dresses in shades of sage green and petal pink. “We worked with my stylist, Grace, to coordinate the layering of coloring and details, as well as everyone’s jewelry look,” Andrea says.

On the morning of May 31, 2025, the girls got ready Petite Plume for Over The Moon Silk Lace Cami Short Sets in Periwinkle embroidered with their names, as Lynn Makeup Studio beautified the bride. And the flower girls put on their custom Doloris Petunia dresses.

Meanwhile, the ceremony space was being transformed. Our ceremony took place over the sunken garden pond at Beaulieu Garden, where a bridge had been specially constructed for us more than two days by Zephyr Tents,” Andrea explains. “Our florist, Loop Flowers, lined the bridge with beautiful locally-grown flowers and an oversized asymmetrical arch filled with peonies, spirea, and dripping green amaranthus.”

Again, flowers took center stage. “As part of the ceremony, each bridesmaid-and-groomsman pair placed a symbolic flower onto the altar: hyacinth for patience, tulips for passion, blue iris for loyalty, snapdragons for protection, and peony for abundance, as blessings for our marriage,” Andrea says. “Every detail was so intentional, it felt like our own little world. All I remember were the dreamy pastel flowers, glimmering water in the pond, and guests’ hand fans shimmering under bright afternoon light, everyone smiling as big as the sun that day. It was perfection itself.”

There was a cocktail hour in the Italian Garden before guests moved into the reception space, beautifully designed with unique seating and tablescapes from Found, Theoni, Sacramento Event Co, NC Event Designs, and Casa de Perrin. But maybe the most distinct design element came from the couple themselves. “We repurposed a piece of chinoiserie furniture from our home for the escort display,” Andrea says. “Each guest received an escort envelope with a handwritten note from us to say thank you for being part of our lives.”

They sat down to dinner under a cypress arbor as the sun went down and Laura & Anton provided soothing ambiance. “The air was warm, the music was gentle, and the whole scene felt magical,” Andrea says. Paula LeDuc served truffled mushroom vol-au-vent, wine-braised short rib, local miso black cod, and lobster pot pies with the letter “P” engraved into the phyllo dough. “As the evening cooled down, we passed out the Superfine cashmere shawls from my brand, Drea Shawl, and they were gone before I even realized,” Andrea says.

DJ Chris Clouse hit play on Lana Del Ray’s Young and Beautiful” for the newlyweds’ first dance, choreographed by Steps to Love Wedding Dances. “It went so smoothly, and I could hear our guests cheering us on in the background,” Andrea shares. “Afterward, our guests told us that a pair of birds were dancing above us as we danced.”

Late-night dessert was extra sweet. “We surprised our guests with a soft-serve cart and a cookies-and-cream milkshake station next to the dance floor, a nod to that very first conversation Andrea and I ever had,” Dawid says. “It only felt right to bring it full circle with cookies and cream, this time paired with a far more enjoyable kind of workout: dancing.” As the final encore, the DJ played “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!” and sent the guests and lovebirds off under the starry sky. “It was the perfect, high-energy end to the night.”
