To celebrate their three-year anniversary, Aunsara Dennis and Brittney Moore planned a two week–long holiday throughout Italy. While in Positano as the sun set, Aunsara proposed to Brittney, while the pair was surrounded by a sea of flowers, candles, and a violinist’s music. A few months later, it was Brittney’s turn to ask Aunsara to marry her at The Wharf in Washington D.C.—the exact spot where she had asked Aunsara to be her girlfriend three years prior.

Wanting a blank canvas for their wedding venue, the couple booked The Morrow Hotel, making them the first people to wed there. For the reception, everyone shifted to The Showroom, where planner Jayne Heir transformed the space completely. To capture every moment of their winter nuptials, Terri Baskin was behind the lens. And Wilori Lane set the tone with a sleek invitation suite.

Both brides chose ceremony looks that reflected their unique styles. Aunsara wore a bespoke pantsuit with a custom cape by Laury Bride, while Brittney chose a Sarah Jassir-Lindsay Couture 2022 dress, sourced from Vainglorious Brides. On the day-of, the pair got ready with hairstylist Serena Hampton Yates and makeup artist Marquia James. The bridal party complemented Aunsara and Brittney in off-the-shoulder looks by Bridal Babes.

On December 28, 2023, the brides walked down their runway-configured aisle, as guests dressed in all-black black-tie looked inward. The couple exchanged vows against a greenery-filled backdrop by Distinctive Event Design. “Surrounded by our closest family and friends, we were overwhelmed with gratitude and joy, knowing we were about to start the next chapter of our lives together,” Aunsara reflects of the ceremony.

After being announced as officially married, the brides joined their guests at a cocktail reception, catered by Spilled Milk. The color palette of the space was classically monochromatic with pops of green, and the custom Revolution Events bar featured a modern balloon installation by Sweet Gifts that added a playful element.

The newlyweds shared a first dance to “Everything” by Mary J. Blige, and then the dance floor truly came alive with DJ Set Fire. Once the reception came to a formal close, Aunsara and Brittney snuck off to their suite at The Conrad and reminisced on the day. Brittney concludes, “As we relaxed, we enjoyed snacks and wedding cake that we hadn’t had the chance to savor during the reception.”
