Brielle Kuhn and Garrett Yocom first heard about each other through mutual friends. Though they lived in different cities, one friend in particular who knew both parties well insisted they had to meet. A few months of anticipation culminated in a birthday party where they were finally in the same place at the same time—and sparks flew.
After more than a year, Garrett proposed on a bluff overlooking the ocean in Dana Point—the site of their second date and a place they often return to on walks with their dog, Ralph. “He put together an elaborate story to get me to the bluff in a dress, and not my usual walking attire,” Brielle smiles. “It worked, and I was beyond surprised.” Once she said yes, both of their families emerged to celebrate together. “It was a dream!”
On March 22, 2025, the couple hosted their wedding at the Rosewood Miramar Beach with Over The Moon Editor’s Pick Planner Shannon Leahy Events overseeing the planning. Montecito felt like the perfect midpoint between Brielle’s Northern California roots and Garrett’s Southern California upbringing. “The Rosewood was an easy choice because it perfectly captures my personal aesthetic,” Brielle explains. “One of my favorite compliments over the wedding weekend was when guests would walk in and say, ‘This feels so Brielle.’”
Every element of the weekend reflected Brielle’s distinct eye for style—especially her wardrobe, which was curated with intention and a love for vintage fashion. “I really wanted to find pieces I hadn’t seen other brides wear before,” Brielle shares. “Everything I ended up falling in love with was vintage!”
Her Friday morning bridal brunch look was a vintage find from Happy Isles, and that evening, she changed into a vintage Chanel dress for the rehearsal dinner and welcome party. On the wedding morning, she wore a vintage Dior robe while getting ready with Marla & Co., and her after-party dress was a 1970s piece, also sourced from Happy Isles.
After much searching for the dress, Brielle discovered Yellow by Sahar during a trunk show. She collaborated with the designer on a custom dress and veil. “As a fashion lover, it was such a fun process to work with Sahar,” she says. “I love that both pieces were unique to me. You may be seeing ‘The Brielle’ in her collection soon!”
Garrett wore custom Ralph Lauren for both Friday and Saturday—a green suit for the rehearsal and welcome party, and a classic tuxedo for the wedding day. The groomsmen followed in black suits, while the bridesmaids wore dresses in varying styles and complementary colors. “My friends all have such great taste, so it was a no-brainer letting them choose their own dresses,” Brielle adds.
The ceremony was held beneath a climbing rose arch. “The space felt so intimate with all of our guests,” the bride remembers. From a window, she watched as family members walked down the aisle before joining her father to make her own entrance. Their officiant—the mutual friend who had introduced them—led the ceremony with heartfelt anecdotes. “Garrett and I read our vows to each other in front of all of our closest family and friends, which was such a special moment. I’m glad people were able to see just a little glimpse into how much we love each other!”
Afterward, guests enjoyed cocktails followed by dinner on the grand lawn. “I was really set on having dinner outside, and having it as a separate space from the dancing,” Brielle says. The team designed a layered setting with banquet seating, custom linens, pillows, lampshades, and three unique tabletop styles. Illustrator Emily Baird’s custom floral motif—originally created for the couple’s invitation suite—appeared throughout the celebration.
Toasts were woven throughout dinner, and once the couple gave their final remarks, the celebration moved to the ballroom—where the JB Project from West Coast Music kept the dance floor full from the first song to the last. Brielle concludes, “The dance floor didn’t stop all night, we had the time of our lives.”
