Actress, and currently rose-haired Busy Philipps had the brilliant idea of turning her 40th birthday party into a destination wedding for herself, and what transpired was a fabulous weekend vacation that culminated in a Mexican-inspired fiesta in San Jose del Cabo at farm-to-table restaurant Flora Farms. Just to give you a tase of how funny and fun-loving this woman is, her hashtag was #2Busy2B40—pure genius!

“A lot of the design of the party originated from the invitations that Andrea Hickey designed for me many months ago,” says Philipps in the Instagram caption she posted. She found Hickey from Bobby Finger, after he Tweeted about her as an illustrator, post-BuzzFeed layoffs. “The day after I got laid off, I got an email from Busy Philipps asking if I wanted to do her birthday invites, which was very surreal and months later, I’m still so excited about it,” writes Hickey in her caption for a post with the completed invites. “I had the idea that since it was a wedding to myself, the invites could be wedding like but a little f*cked up, I wanted all my favorite things wrapped up in flowers and vines and Andrea nailed it,” writes Philipps.

To help her bring her vision to life, Philipps found Cabo-based Amy Abbott Events. “After a five minute call, she totally understood my vibe and made it all happen in the easiest way ever. I basically just wanted it to be an explosion of color, like what I feel like on the inside, I guess?” captions Philipps.

The bride wore a white, long-sleeve Zimmermann dress with a deep v-neck and cut-out details. She paired the gown with Irene Neuwirth turquoise jewelry and put her pink hair in an up-do.

Flora Farms put together the delicious three-course menu (Philipps gushed about the potatoes and of course there were churros!) and “no one stopped dancing the whole night,” according to the birthday girl.
