Cece Jewellery Founder Cece Fein-Hughes and tech entrepreneur Dan Jones met on a night out while they were both students at Exeter University. “He was on a rugby social, and I was on a cheerleading social!” she exclaims. After nine years together, Dan proposed during a weekend in her “spiritual homeland,” Devon. “He then proposed on a wild cliff face along the coast, just as the sun broke through the clouds—very romantic.”

Of course, Devon would be where the pair tied the knot. “We wanted a wild and witchy aesthetic for the wedding to mirror the rugged landscape of Devon, where I grew up,” Cece shares. The exact venue was recommended by a friend. “As soon as we stepped foot in the ancient barn we knew it was the one. It reminded me of my granny’s thatched house in the middle of nowhere, witchy and whimsical, candlelit with crackling fires—think Wuthering Heights!”

To help bring their specific summer vision to life, the couple brought on planner Valentina Ring of The Stars Inside and photographer Studio Chloe David.

“Nothing beats a Vivienne Westwood wedding dress!” Cece exclaims of what she wore down the aisle. She found the exact design at Browns. “I wanted something timeless and classic, and the corseted fitting creates the perfect hourglass figure—I felt so womanly! I paired this with a dramatic veil and blusher for the aisle walk, and then a party veil for the evening! I decided to wear the same dress from day to night. I felt like it deserved it!”

The bride wore her own jewelry: the tennis necklace and bespoke ring. “My jewelry was the real show stopper, with our new Tennis Necklace made especially for my wedding, with a total of 51cts worth of heart shaped diamonds,” Cece says.

On September 14, 2024, the ceremony was held in the barn with hundreds of feathered birds hanging from the beams. “We spent hours making these the night before! This was in honor of my granny, who used to hang little white birds from her wreath at Christmas,” Cece explains. “A song my dad used to sing me when I was young played while I walked down the aisle, and we had an undertaker who married us—which sounds crazy! But he took my granny and grandad away, and he is wonderfully free spirited.”

After being announced as officially married, the newlyweds joined their loved ones, as a jazz band played. “We had little canapes of mini honey, mustard, and rosemary sausages and pea, mint, and parmesan crostinis. . .very British!” the bride exclaims.

The most magical part of the day was the reveal of the dining room. “You went from a bright sunny drinks reception outside to a dark candle lit barn, twinkling with hundreds of candles and flowers, as if transported to another time,” Cece reflects.

Long after Cece and Dan shared a first dance to “Cecilia” by Simon & Garfunkel and they said farewell to all their guests, the pair headed to Jamaica for a tropical honeymoon. Cece chimes in, “It took us a good few days to come down from our wedding high!”
