Though Hppy Skincare Founder Hannah Penn and Michael Montemurro grew up less than a mile apart, they didn’t meet until after college via a mutual friend. Sparks flew, and after nearly three years of dating, he proposed during a trip to her parents’ home in Flagstaff. Moments later, both of their families emerged from hiding nearby. “I was completely shocked,” she recalls. “It was the most thoughtful and unforgettable surprise anyone has ever planned for me.”

When it came time to coordinate their wedding, the couple was drawn to a destination that already held deep meaning. With Hannah’s family business rooted near San Miguel de Allende, the region had long been part of her life. The Rosewood San Miguel de Allende quickly became the natural choice. “It felt meaningful, personal, and like the perfect place to begin this next chapter,” she says. Under the creative direction of Gonzalez + Helfon, the weekend was designed with a thoughtful sense of progression, each moment unfolding into the next.

Fashion played a defining role throughout the weekend, with each look telling its own story. Hannah began in Oscar de la Renta, followed by a vintage Alexander McQueen from Tab Vintage. For the ceremony, she wore a Danielle Frankel dress customized with her stylist, Breanna. “That collaboration made the dress feel entirely my own,” she shares. She later changed into a custom look by ONE OF, while Michael wore a classic Ralph Lauren tuxedo. Beauty was led by Pedro y Pablo Torres, who Hannah says “truly became family over the weekend.”

On December 6, 2025, guests gathered in the lavender garden for a ceremony filled with warmth and intention. As Hannah walked down the aisle to a live performance of “At Last” by Eli’s Band, the moment felt surreal. “It truly was an ‘at last’ kind of moment,” she shares.

Officiated by Hannah’s brother, the ceremony was personal, with the couple choosing to share their vows aloud. “We wanted everyone to truly share in our love and commitment,” she explains. Standing together at the altar, everything else seemed to fade. “We both felt as if it was just the two of us.”

The reception unfolded as a series of immersive moments. Guests transitioned from a romantic garden setting into an Italian-inspired cocktail hour before entering a high-energy reception space, where paper goods by Marielle Hawitt subtly tied each detail together.

The fare reflected the destination with a menu that included short rib, sea bass, and cauliflower steak, along with a cilantro and poblano soup. The bar—featuring custom cocktails and martini stations—kept the energy spirited, while heartfelt toasts from family made the night even more meaningful. “My dad began, and truly no one prepares you for that moment,” Hannah shares.

Later in the evening, during the cake cutting, the celebration reached a new level, beautifully captured by 515 Photo Co and Lighthouse Cinema. “As fireworks went off, Michael and I decorated an Italian berry tart together . . that moment felt like the true turning point of the night,” she says. The party well into the early hours, with guests moving into a tequila tasting bar and dancing until 4:00 a.m.

Following the wedding, the couple stayed in Mexico for their honeymoon in Punta Mita. “[It was] the perfect place to relax, enjoy married life and keep the tequila flowing,” Hannah smiles.
