Happy Anniversary! Kate Middleton and Prince William Celebrate Eight Years of Marriage

By Madeleine Luckel

Here at Over The Moon, we’re clearly all about weddings. And if there’s one ceremony that is the gold standard of twenty-first century nuptials, it has to be that of Kate Middleton and Prince William. On April 29, 2011, the royal couple said “I do.” The then-Ms. Middleton wore a custom Alexander McQueen by Sarah Burton gown for the occasion, which featured a fitted bodice, lace overlay, and a full A-line skirt. Middleton memorably did her own makeup for the big day, and carried a small bouquet of Lily of the Valley down the aisle.

But post-iconic wedding, post-photos seen around the world, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have settled into a rich life with one another. The couple first lived away from London, at their country residence Amner Hall. Prince William continued his work as a helicopter pilot, as Middleton settled into her new royal role. Over the past years, the couple have taken up an increasingly large number of official royal duties. They’ve also decamped to London, where they now call Kensington Palace home.

And of course, they’ve become parents as well. Prince George was born in 2013, while Princess Charlotte arrived in 2015. But this year, the couple’s wedding month has taken on even greater significance. On April 23, 2018 the couple welcomed their third child, Prince Louis into the world. Cheers to another great eight years!
