Actors Isabella Castillo and Matias Novoa met while filming a television series, where they were playing each other’s love interest. At the wrap party, they shared their first real off-screen kiss, and after three months of dating, he proposed on a trip to Boone, North Carolina on New Year’s Eve.
For all of their wedding looks, the couple went to their designer, Rosita Hurtado. Isabella’s ceremony dress was inspired by her favorite painter, Claude Monet, and she wanted to recreate his famous water lilies on the bottom layer of the design and on her veil. And then for the dancing portion of the night, she changed into a bohemian outfit with cowboy boots. Matias chose a custom grey suit with vintage fabric and wore Dr. Martens.
The two decided on a barn wedding because they both love being surrounded by nature and found the perfect spot called Summerfield Farms in Greensboro, North Carolina. They set the date for October 11th, as they wanted the moon to be full and believe the number 11 is magical. To help plan everything, they hired Sissi del Rey of Epic Events Miami. “She helped us deliver what we wanted and made it come to life, since we were both working on another series in Mexico at the time,” Isabella explains.
On the morning of, the bride got ready with her bridesmaids and her glam team, Angela Fischer and Nathalia Garcia. And then she walked down the aisle with her father, surrounded by the woodlands and florals, created by Dariel Hernandez. The couple’s pastor, Efrain Acosta, who flew in from Miami for the occasion, led the Christian service.
After sharing a first kiss as husband and wife, the cocktail hour began with ’50s Cuban music in the barn. “There were Cohiba Cuban cigars and hand fans with a special aroma, Enigma, created for us by Doctor Aromas as favors,” Isabella says.
During dinner, the couple snuck away with their photographers as the sun was setting. “It is tradition to not eat anything at your wedding, so we ate real quick and were able to escape from everyone and the noise for a quick second, just us and our amazing photographers. Together, we witnessed a beautiful sunset under a tree in a far away open field and ran full of happiness and joy. We were officially Mr. and Mrs. Novoa,” Isabella says.
Once they returned to the party and before cutting the cake, the bride surprised everyone and serenaded her husband with a sweet song. Then the newlyweds took to the dance floor for a first dance to “Indian Summer” by The Doors and “Tennessee Whiskey” by Christ Stapleton.
For their honeymoon, they hit France, Scotland, and Norway. “We finished it off in Tromso, Norway. We went Aurora hunting in the middle of the night in minus 19 degrees, drove around the fjords, and saw a glimpse of the northern lights. We couldn’t ask for more,” Isabella says.
