In the fall semester of her senior year at Lafayette College, Lucy Linville added an English class at the eleventh hour of the add/drop period. The last-minute decision was one that would change her life because, in that class, she met Tyler Zorn. It turns out the two had mutual friends. “After that first class, we immediately noticed each other and separately told one of our best friends that we were interested in one another,” Lucy remembers. “Same friend, same day—and the rest is history!”
Six-and-a-half years later, on Lucy’s 28th birthday, Tyler proposed with more than just a ring; it was a weekend full of surprises. “We walked into L’Artusi Supper Club to a room of 50 of our closest friends and family for a surprise engagement Tyler had set up,” Lucy says. “The last surprise was that, when we were making our toasts, Tyler handed me a napkin that had our wedding date and venue booked exactly one year from the day—my 29th birthday—at my dream venue, Cedar Lakes Estate.”
This wasn’t Tyler being presumptuous. Lucy had known she wanted to get married at Cedar Lakes since her sister, podcast host Cameron Rogers, got married there seven years prior. “Tyler and I both love a woodsy, outdoorsy, homey aesthetic, and Cedar Lakes matches that perfectly,” she says. “The venue is so chic and beautiful with fields, sports, a lake, and the most incredible hospitality I’ve ever experienced. It also has cabins for 200 of your guests to stay on-site, allowing for the party to go all night.”
To hone their aesthetic, Lucy and Tyler put faith in their chosen creative team: planner Amanda Savory, designer and florist Julie Guinta of Little Sister Creative, and photographer Readyluck. There would be an entire weekend of events across the estate. First, the “Sunset Social” welcome party set the tone with a vintage camp-themed backyard cookout. A field day full of games and friendly competition got everyone excited for the wedding to come, and then a mountaintop rehearsal dinner overflowed with seasonal florals that blended beautifully into the landscape.
There were many looks to curate, and Lucy worked with Julie Sabatino of The Stylish Bride to pull it all together. “I had always had the Vivienne Westwood Galaxy Cape dress saved as my dream wedding dress for years, but I wanted to go through the process of trying on different styles and designers,” Lucy says. In fact, she did end up wearing the Galaxy dress, but trying things on wasn’t for nothing. “I absolutely loved all of the looks from Danielle Frankel and actually decided on wearing the Scarlet dress to my rehearsal dinner before I had even decided on my wedding dress.”
She wore another Vivienne Westwood—the Lace Minerva dress styled with the VW Comet Corset on top—for the reception, then had her mother’s wedding dress altered into a mini for the after-party. “The morning of our wedding, Tyler surprised me with a custom necklace he made from his grandmother’s engagement ring,” Lucy says. “It has one main diamond in the center with smaller diamonds floating on the chain of the necklace. I now wear it every day and will cherish this piece for the rest of my life.” It was the perfect finishing touch, along with soft glam by Sophie Toland and Kendall Williams.
On June 28, 2025—Lucy’s birthday—guests gathered at the lakefront for the ceremony. Organic arrangements of seasonal florals lined the aisle, with potted plants and angular branches framing the couple and florals climbing up trees. The bride’s brother-in-law officiated. “Tyler and I read our own personal vows that we had written together, going back and forth exchanging each line,” Lucy says. “The ceremony was lighthearted and fun, with jokes and sentimental notions.”
A quick shower passed overhead during the tented cocktail hour, then revealed a rainbow as everyone moved into the reception space. Swaths of white fabric draped from the ceiling and spilled over with branches and greenery, and organic florals seemed to grow from the tables. An antique mirrored dance floor stood at the center of it all; and the 15-piece Jenna Wynne Band played in front of it, as Lucy and Tyler entered and danced to Ray LaMontagne’s “I Was Born to Love You.”
“It’s tough to choose just one favorite moment, but we both loved our first dances with each other and with our parents, seeing our loved ones speak and share memories, and seeing the dance floor packed all night,” Lucy says. They ended the reception crowd-surfing over guests, but there was more to come. “At midnight, the party continued at The Treehouse, a large indoor-outdoor cabin on-site, with DJ Justin Dawson playing hits until 3:30 a.m.”
