Nasreen Hemmer and Adam Hemmer met several months into the pandemic, at a time when dating looked very different than it once had. After matching on Hinge in July 2020, their earliest dates unfolded over FaceTime. Adam found thoughtful ways to make those digital evenings feel intentional—shipping Nas a cocktail-making kit so they could mix drinks together and cooking dinner “side by side,” even while apart. When they finally met in person, it was for a picnic at Alta Plaza Park, perched high above San Francisco with sweeping views of the bay. Today, the couple lives nearby in Pacific Heights, their home overlooking the same lawn where that first date took place.

Two years later, Adam proposed in Ravello, Italy, during their first international trip after pandemic travel restrictions lifted. He led Nas through the gardens of Villa Rufolo, a 13th-century estate overlooking the Amalfi Coast, and proposed in the middle of the grounds.

When it came time to plan their wedding, the couple gravitated toward wine country—a place tied to some of their favorite memories. The Madrona in Healdsburg was the first venue they toured, and nothing else compared. They were drawn to the property’s historic grounds and its art-filled interiors, as well as the culinary program, which played an important role in shaping the weekend. The setting struck a balance between playful, artistic charm and old Hollywood glamour, creating a natural backdrop for a black-tie celebration. They worked with Over The Moon The List Planner smith + james to bring the vision to life, with photography by Nirav Patel.

Fashion was central to the day. Inspired by decades of Oscar-night looks—both classic and contemporary—Nas looked for something that felt striking yet appropriate for an outdoor setting. She chose Danielle Frankel’s River look, noting “the luxurious fabric draping and fluid movement is the star of the design.” She paired it with Sophie Billie Brahe’s Colonna pearl earrings, Manolo Blahnik heels, and a vintage Chanel handbag Adam gifted her on the wedding day. The bag was sourced during a trip to Tokyo and dated to the three-year span between both of their birth years—“a very poetic addition,” as Nas describes it. Beauty was kept equally refined, with Marisa Perel creating a wind-swept midi bun that left the neckline and scarf detail of the look unobstructed.

The ceremony unfolded outdoors on April 27, 2024, just steps from the couple’s cottage, allowing anticipation to build throughout the day as the altar took shape. Despite a first look earlier on, Nas notes that seeing Adam as she walked down the aisle still felt overwhelming. The couple had written their vows over the months leading up to the wedding, and hearing them aloud became the emotional center of the day. “Hearing those heartfelt words made us forget everyone around us and solely feel the connection to each other,” she says. Adam grew visibly emotional during Nas’s vows, which reflected on the places they’ve lived and the homes they’ve built together.

Cocktail hour followed in The Madrona’s vegetable garden, where guests enjoyed passed canapés and signature drinks, including Nas’s choice of Billecart-Salmon Brut Rosé and Adam’s spicy margarita. As evening settled in, guests moved to the reception beneath the property’s orange trees, where one long dinner table was nestled through the grove. Studio Mondine designed Dutch Masters–inspired centerpieces, each one distinct and dotted with unexpected details like real quail eggs, along with an installation of long red ribbons woven through the branches overhead.

Dinner and toasts followed, with the evening transitioning seamlessly into dancing, led by a DJ and horn trio from DART Collective. For their first dance, Nas and Adam began with Beyoncé’s “XO,” before shifting into “I’ve Been In Love” by Jungle and Channel Tres—a choreographed surprise that energized the crowd.

Later, Nas changed into an architectural white mini by Maticevski, completing the look with Simone Rocha crystal flower earrings and Gianvito Rossi heels. As the night continued, guests were ushered indoors for an after-party, complete with late-night snacks and a visit to The Madrona’s cellar for a special bottle of Harlan Estate Bordeaux to close out the evening.

After the wedding, the couple headed to Kauai for a mini-moon before planning a longer honeymoon later in the year through South Africa and the Seychelles.
