Adam Doneger proposed to Rachel Schoenau, CEO of loungewear and sleepwear brand Polkadot England, on top of Ajax Mountain in Aspen. “I was completely shocked, and the photographer captured the snow-fallen moment perfectly!” she says.

For their summer 2018 wedding, they chose Gurney’s Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa. The couple both love the Hamptons and have spent many warm-weather seasons there together. To help plan everything, they hired Jill Gordon of Jill Gordon Celebrate.

The bride found her Marchesa wedding dress at Mark Ingram Atelier, and Mark is one of her mother’s best friends—more like an uncle to Rachel. For the rehearsal dinner, she went with a beachy, casual Zimmermann look, and for the after-party, she changed into a Temperley London sequin jumpsuit that her mother found at FIVESTORY.

On the morning of the ceremony, Rachel got ready with makeup artist Oscar Caballero and hair stylist Anderson Medeiros, who made sure her beauty look was natural and her hair didn’t frizz in the summer heat. However, hours before the service, it was misting rain and the hotel’s crew kept cleaning the chairs on the deck.

When Rachel walked down the aisle, the sun apparently shone through and the rained slowed. Rabbi Sirkman, who oversaw her Bat Mitzvah, presided over the meaningful, uplifting ceremony. And once the couple were announced as married, Adam stomped on the glass, and the cocktail hour began.

Lamb and salmon were served for dinner, followed by the wedding cake with fresh fruit and cream. Then came the dancing in full swing with On the Move Entertainment. The newlyweds had their first dance to “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran, and Adam even lifted his bride à la Dirty Dancing.

The after-party continued the celebration, and Adam’s 95-year-old grandmother stayed up to attend. Guests danced to upbeat music and feasted on late-night bites to keep the excitement going.

A year after the wedding, the pair went to Italy and Greece on their honeymoon. “I was pregnant, but we had the BEST time!” Rachel says. Months later, they welcomed a baby boy—the most joyous start to their family.
