The Refined Host

Savannah Young knew she would eventually say, “I do,” to Jamey Mosley on the day they first met—though the circumstances were barely romantic. “We met at school in Alabama, when my roommate introduced us,” Savannah says. “My roommate and I had just gotten a pet hedgehog, and Jamey came over to meet him. At first, I was hesitant to fall for an athlete because of how demanding their schedules are—but it did not take either of us long to realize that we were a perfect match. That was the day I knew I was going to marry him.” (And, Jamey wasn’t just any athlete: He played in the NFL after college and is currently on the coaching staff for the University of Alabama.)

The duo dated all through college and into their careers, finally settling in Tuscaloosa and getting engaged at 30A beach, their favorite vacation spot in Florida. But for their wedding, they headed back to New York, where Savannah grew up outside Buffalo. And The Refined Host brought all of the couple’s visions to life.

“Our venue was the private country club where my family has been a member since I was five years old,” Savannah says. “We have celebrated many special moments there throughout my life, so when the time came to plan our wedding, we knew we wanted to use the club.” Their large guest count required tenting the lawn, which was an added bonus. “I wanted an outdoor venue that I could make my own, something light and airy that would also be very chic and sophisticated.”

Savannah also had a vision for her dress (and, with no prior knowledge of it, Jamey correctly guessed it would be long-sleeved). “I wanted to wear something that I have never seen anyone wear before, and Pnina Tornai had the perfect dress to match my aesthetic,” Savannah says. “When I put it on, we all knew it was the one.” She wore Dior shoes, a pair of her mother’s earrings, and an updo by Groom Service hairstylist Kassie—who suggested a last-minute style switch-up with stunning results. Later in the evening, Savannah let down her hair and swapped her Pnina for Galia Lahav’s Carmen Dress.

On July 8, 2023, the couple’s pastor from Tuscaloosa officiated their heartfelt ceremony. “It felt intimate and personal, even though there were hundreds of people there,” Savannah remembers. “There were hints of humor, laughter and tears. I felt an overwhelming amount of gratitude toward the people who came and made our day so special.”

Upon arriving at the country club after the ceremony, guests were stunned by the McCarthy Tents structure, outfitted with white draping, hanging greenery by Wildroot Floral, Speier Displays chandeliers, and a checkered dance floor. “The reception was a party from start to finish,” Savannah says. “We served filet mignon with veggies and the creamiest mashed potatoes, and had a four-piece band, Silver Arrow Band, performing jazzy renditions of modern songs during dinner.”

After the meal, DJ Lil Gabby took over. Savannah and Jamey’s first dance was to “The Best Part” by H.E.R. and Daniel Caesar, and they rarely left the dance floor after that. “The reception flowed so perfectly from first dances to dinner and speeches—and then dancing again with a photo booth, cigar bar, and multiple open bars,” the bride remembers. “It was the most beautiful night under the stars and chandeliers.”
