Tate Green and New York Rangers hockey player Adam Fox met during their freshman year at Harvard University. Their paths crossed through overlapping social circles—Tate played on the lacrosse team, while Adam played hockey. However, it wasn’t until junior year, when the two student-athletes went on their first date and sparks flew.

Five years later, Adam proposed to Tate, who works alongside Mass General Hospital for her family’s non-profit TackleALS, and the pair started planning their wedding at the lakeside Emerson Park Pavillion in Upstate New York. “It was really important to me to find an ADA-accommodating venue because my dad is in a wheelchair,” Tate shares. On the aesthetic, she adds, “I really wanted to bring some New York City party energy to upstate New York while keeping the aesthetic soft, romantic lake town vibes.”

Gather Event Planning, led by Tate’s now sister-in-law, Jessica Green, oversaw the design elements, while Heather Davidson Adkins served as the coordinator. On the day, Laura Rose captured each moment through her lens. Beck & Forth Co. designed the florals, creating arrangements that framed the day in soft pastels. Tabletop rentals were provided by BBJ La Tavola, while McCarthy Events supplied the dance floor and chairs.

“I knew I wanted a drop-waist gown which has recently gotten more popular, but I also wanted the dress to feel timeless,” Tate notes of her ceremony look. She ultimately chose the Harmony by Lee Petra Grebenau. “I had the sparkle skirt layer removed for a cleaner look. I felt so bridal in the white lace and had a custom veil with the same lace from the dress.”

Her jewelry included a diamond heart pendant, borrowed from her mother—a gift from Tate’s father for their 25th wedding anniversary. She completed the look with Manolo Blahnik Hangisi 70s. For the dancing fête that followed, she switched into Danielle Frankel’s Sasha silk number. “I knew I wanted to add a pop of green to play off of my maiden name, so I paired the dress with green Manolo slingbacks,” she smiles. Hair and makeup were by Michaela of Glamsquad, who gave the bride a natural look, highlighting glowy skin and a defined eye.

The groom wore two custom tuxedos by Tom Marchitelli of GentsPlaybook. For the ceremony, he chose a navy textured three-piece tuxedo. Later, for the reception, he changed into a cream silk dinner jacket—mirroring the bride’s Danielle Frankel dress.

On July 7, 2024, guests were seated along the aisle, bordered by delicate arrangements that echoed a floral arch. The bride’s brother officiated, as Tate and Adam shared their vows. “It was really special,” the bride remembers. “It was really important to me that we do written vows during the ceremony because that has always been my favorite part of the weddings I’ve been to. Adam was extremely nervous for them, but we both agreed they ended up being one of our favorite parts.”

To kick off the reception, the newlyweds danced to Michael Bublé’s “Everything” followed by dances with their parents. “The father-daughter dance was a highlight for me,” Tate shares.  “My dad and I came up with a signal for if he wanted one of my brothers to step in and take over. My dad never ended up giving me the signal because he knew how much the dance meant to me.  It was different than either of us had dreamed about, but a memory I will cherish and I’m so proud of.”

Details, from calligraphy and signage by Cat Lauren Calligraphy to the stationery from Empress Stationery, added personal touches throughout the space. After dinner, guests were treated to The Cakeshop CNY’s wedding confection.

Soon after, the horah ignited the dance floor, with Starlight Music NYC keeping the energy alive. The party carried through the night until the final song—a remix of Taylor Swift’s “Love Story” and Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’.”

The celebrations continued with an after-party that transformed the cocktail room into a full nightclub experience. DJ Chris Jach kept the energy alive, while a late-night menu ensured guests stayed fueled well into the evening. And when it was all said and done, the newlyweds departed for their honeymoon, journeying through Florence, Portofino, Tuscany, and Positano.
