Sydney Priore and Rahul Ghosh’s love story began inside the four walls of their AP Biology classroom, but it was a slow evolution from being high school friends to a college-aged couple. The next six years were spent long-distance because of graduate school and their burgeoning careers with numerous flights between Atlanta and New York.

After nine years together, Rahul proposed on Martha’s Vineyard. It’s a special place for Sydney, as she spent summers with her grandparents there and has early memories of her relationship with Rahul on this island. Once engaged, there was another surprise in store—30 of their friends and family to celebrate the milestone moment.

With a guest list heavily based in Atlanta, the couple knew there was no other city to have their wedding. The Atlanta History Center proved to be beautiful and functional, offering enough space and beauty. They enlisted Jade Lee Events to plan the event and Michelle Scott Photography to capture every moment on camera.

“As far as the aesthetic,” Sydney notes, “We wanted a vibrant and romantic fusion of Indian and western culture. We decided the best way to achieve this was through florals, decor, clothing, and food.” Flowers by Yona executed this vision so beautifully with the bright floral arrangements, romantic decor, and particularly Sydney’s favorite thing— the canopy over the head table.

No one could accuse the bride of being a “less is more” type of woman, so her J Andreatta dress from Spina Bridal was intricate and exquisite with detailed beading. She paired the piece with statement-making earrings from Untamed Petals and natural hair and makeup by Erin Ryser. The groom was equally as extravagant with a custom sherwani and safa. He and Sydney worked with Nazranna for custom designs. His groomsmen all donned tuxedos, and her bridal party mixed and matched in dresses of pink, orange, or peach.

On April 8, 2023, the torrential downpour was an unexpected guest at the wedding ceremony. Nevertheless, it was a beautiful ceremony with the couple’s close friend officiating and speaking directly to Sydney and Rahul’s love. The bride and groom then shared their own vows before being pronounced as officially married.

The bride and groom entered their reception to the tune of Rahul’s personal theme song, “Let’s Hear It For The Boy” by Deniece Williams. Everyone feasted on short rib, fish, sweet potato gnocchi with cherry gastrique, a variety of Indian desserts, and chai wedding cake by Bisoux Catering. Family speeches followed before everyone turned to the dance floor and never left. “Our DJ Toryn was amazing and had people on their feet all night,” Sydney remembers. “We had pop, hip-hop, oldies, and Bollywood. Nothing beats Micheal Jackson transitioning to Bhangra and my dad trying to dance to it.”

The part continued at the Whitley Hotel, which hosted the San Diego Padres during their game against the Braves. The bride admits, “There may have been a few Padres players swinging by the after-party. . .”
