Since Olivia von Christierson, the Power Buyer for Net-A-Porter, has worked in fashion for more than 10 years, she knew she didn’t want a traditional dress. “I was the designer buyer at Selfridges at the time, and one of my favorite brands I bought was Galvan,” she explains. “The dress I chose was in fact the first dress I ever tried on—I just knew it was the one.” As a fun touch of color, she completed the look with deep red Gianvito Rossi shoes that matched the flower girl dresses.
She and her husband, Anthony von Christierson, met at a lunch party in London with mutual friends. And after three years of dating, he proposed at Hoshinoya Kyoto while on holiday in Japan.
The couple loves winter weddings, so it was an easy decision to pick a date right before Christmas to ensure everything was in full festive swing. The ceremony took place in Buford Church, and the reception was hosted in Anthony’s family’s home in the Cotswolds. To help plan everything, they hired Alexandra Hardman, and to capture everything, Benjamin Wheeler was behind the lens for the entire day.
“We selected LPM Bohemia for the marquee because guests are contained inside for the whole evening during winter weddings, so the event needed a lot of theater,” Olivia explains. “We chose their orangery and big-top bell tents which were really unusual and interesting when connected together.” And Tattie Rose Flowers filled the space with florals to bring a beautiful sense of intimacy.
On the day-of, everyone congregated in the church, which dates back to the 12th century, and were surrounded by candles and Christmas trees. The bride walked down the aisle with her father to Anthony. And the choir sung carols, as they recessed after being officially wed.
“When we first walked into the marquee, it felt like we had skipped the dinner and gone straight to the party!” Olivia says. ALR Music’s Three & a Half Men performed during the drinks reception, and then guests were asked to take their seats in the dinner tent. As the happy couple made their entrance, everyone lit their sparklers for a magical welcome.
After the delicious meal, people made their way back to the first reception tent for the first dance to “Grease” by Frankie Valli. For the remainder of the night, the tent was packed—entertained by ALR Music’s The Soul Jets and fueled by the bar’s espresso martinis.
The honeymoon was a complete surprise to Olivia, and they took off on Christmas evening to Islas Secas in Panama, followed by stops in Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and Cartagena in Colombia.
