As micro-weddings pop up across the world, and people postpone their larger celebrations, we’ve had our eye out for inspiration for the former and stumbled across this gorgeous shoot at The Duke Mansion in Charlotte, North Carolina. Beckon Events creative director Allie Barham, who designed the whole feature this July, explains that she and Savannah from the venue were aspiring to create a “season-less editorial that showcased the beauty and style flexibility of the property’s spaces.”

“With the lush surrounding gardens of the property, we felt that ‘British racing green’ was a perfect, striking addition to the monochromatic floors,” Allie says. “Adding in florals with soft peach and coral tones to complement the green made for a pleasing yet unexpected combination.” Rachel May Photography captured everything, while Flora meticulously arranged the flowers.

After designing the initial tables cape, Grey & Cake nailed the sophisticated paper suite with silk tassels, metallic marveling, velvet enclosures, and a gold brooch. CE Rental came in with contemporary accents to make the space more modern, and Celestial Cakery created a gorgeous cream confection with green accents.

The models, Osinor Kakhu and Amani Sephora Madden, got ready with Latia of Fine Art Beauty, and then Amani put on a strapless Allison Webb gown from The White Magnolia, Dolce & Gabbana earrings, and René Caovilla shoes. On the shoot day, it was sweltering hot. “Poor Osinor in his velvet jacket…,” Allie remarks. “Thankfully, our killer hair and makeup artist came prepared with mini fans for the models, along with a small battery powered leaf blower to keep everyone cool.”

When looking back on the finished project, Allie hopes that these images encourage couples not to shy away from bold color or mixing contemporary and traditional styles. “Your day can still feel traditional and formal, even if you don’t have a white-on-white aesthetic or decorate with solely traditional furnishings, florals and place settings.”
