Model Maia Cotton and venture capitalist Max Feldstein were living with their respective close pals in New York City in early 2019. “When Max’s best friend, Cully, started dating my best friend, Kendall, they set us up,” Maia explains. “Our first date was at Mamo, an Italian restaurant in Max’s neighborhood. We talked and laughed over dinner, and afterward, we decided to wander through Soho. Along the way, we stumbled upon a Friends—yes, the T.V. show—interactive exhibition, and Max insisted we check it out. It was a very memorable and fun date.”
After five years together, Max proposed during their annual trip to visit her family in New Zealand. “We decided to start the new year off with a swim at sunrise on January 1st,” Maia shares. “It was about 5:30 am; I was so tired from NYE the night before! But Max insisted we do it. As I approached the beach, I saw some flowers arranged on the sand and knew instantly. My parents and sister were hiding nearby. It was intimate and perfect, except for the fact that I was wearing my pajamas.”
Ahead of their January 2, 2025, wedding in Queenstown, New Zealand, the NYC-based bride-to-be is sharing her OTM Dream Registry with us!
Maia describes her own aesthetic as “understated but indulgent,” and adds, “I love spaces that are both elevated yet approachable, and a little bit unexpected.” However, she admits she’s still figuring out her interior design process. “For the wedding, I took a similar approach to how I think about personal style—starting with clean, sophisticated foundations and then layering in fun, unexpected elements for contrast. My goal is always to create spaces that feel elegant yet inviting.”
When it comes to combining her and Max’s senses of style, it’s usually seamless. “That said, I’m drawn to a more modern, intentional style, whereas Max reminds me that spaces also need charm and a sense of comfort,” the model shares. “I think we balance each other really well.”
For her Dream Registry, Maia focused on pieces that combine practicality with longevity, starting with the Staub Dutch Oven. “I am slowly building my Staub collection and know I’ll have this for years to come,” she says.
On the dining table will sit Laboratorio Paravicini bespoke plates. “I love incorporating some color into tableware, especially when my personal aesthetic is quite neutral,” Maia adds. And for dessert, sweet treats can be served on the Mariposa Signature Cake Stand. “I love to bake. It’s something I imagine bringing out for celebrations, making it a little tradition that always reminds us of this special time.”
Maia leaves us with key advice for other couples making their Over The Moon Registries: “Think about how you live now, but also how you see yourselves in the future. What items will you truly use or treasure for years? Most importantly, this is an incredible fun and exciting time, so enjoy the process!”
