(Because we’re taking a page from Carrie Bradshaw’s playbook and saying one should be able to register for Manolos no matter what their relationship status!) OTM Bride and artist (also known as The Cartorialist) Carly Kuhn Matz had an intimate backyard wedding in Boca Raton this past December, and she shared her expertise on how to put together an elevated invitation suite and wedding stationery. Carly’s drawings have long been admired by the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker and have been involved in collaborations with top brands, including Dior, Oscar de la Renta, and Prada, so it was a no-brainer to have her and her talents create a Dream Registry.

Carly and her husband Danny Benjamin Matz have been based in Los Angeles but are moving across the country to Miami this season. And as Carly was born and raised in New York, her design style is heavily influenced by the two coasts. “I tend to gravitate towards earthy neutrals: various shades of woods, creams, whites with a touch of black,” she explains. “Color mainly pops up in the accents around the home—coffee table books, plants, flowers, vases.”

For inspiration, Carly loves Athena Calderone‘s style. “She mixes textures and neutral colors really well,” Carly says. “All of her homes have warmth to them, without too much color.”

And fortunately, Mr. and Mrs. Matz have similar aesthetics. “He trusts in my design choices, even when I move the furniture around multiple times over the course of a month—especially during this past year in quarantine!” Carly exclaims.

Because they made their real wedding registry during lockdown, Carly shares that she wishes she would’ve balanced out experiences and physical products more. Now that the world is opening up more, the opportunity for travel is something to look forward to. Luckily, on Over The Moon’s Registry, you can add as many experiences you want!

For Carly’s Dream Registry, the bedroom and kitchen were her focuses. “Good bed linens, a nice knife set, and high quality pots and pans are three
things that make for perfect items to put on your registry,” she advises. “[They] may not be the sexy answers, but investing in sleep and cooking I think are a must.”

And finally, her advice for couples making their own registries right now? Carly says, “Really figure out what you want and will use, not necessarily what you think you’re supposed to get—a.k.a. a fancy China set or crystal vase—unless of course that is something you’ve always wanted, then go for it!”
