A Timeless, Garden Rustic Wedding on St. Patrick’s Day

It was St. Patrick’s Day in 2018. Marisa Lozano and Elizabeth Archibald had matched on Tinder a few months prior, but nothing came of it until they randomly bumped into each other outside of a bar in Baltimore on the emerald-filled holiday. After that, Liz found Reese on Instagram and slid into her DMs. It worked like a charm.

After two-and-a-half years together, Reese proposed to Liz at their favorite spot in Fairmount Park. The couple were taking their new drone out, so it managed to capture the whole thing. Then, Liz took her chance to counter propose over a New Year’s Eve staycation with printed photos of them attached to balloons and heart-shaped roses.

Once engaged, the two wanted an “intimate and timeless, yet garden rustic” venue, Liz explains. Terrain Gardens in Devon, Pennsylvania, was just that. “We wanted to feel like we were in a garden of roses, since the natural foliage hadn’t bloomed yet. We chose runway-style seating with lush white roses lining the aisle.”

Liz took the planning reins and brought in photographer Hannah Snyder and Carried Away Films to capture every moment. To set the tone, Reverie Press created a beautiful invitation suite.

For their late winter wedding, Liz chose a semi-custom Amsale dress with Dior double pearl earrings and Sarah Flint heels from Over The Moon. Reese went with a custom Watson Ellis ensemble, styled with a Watters lace bodysuit and Vince Camuto shoes. Her mom’s pearls served as her “something borrowed.” And they both got ready with makeup artists Renny Vasquez and Kristen Fiori and hairstylist Tinika Sadiku.

On March 17, 2024, string duo Miss Musique set the tone for the ceremony with romantic, classic tunes. Then, Reese walked down with her parents the aisle to “At Last,” while Liz followed with her mother. The couple were both eager, as their original wedding date was March 2022 but the pandemic pushed their plans back.

“We had a UU minister officiate the wedding with a unity candle and Bible reading from Liz’s mom, Dr. Eloise Archibald,” Reese explains. And once announced as officially wed, the newlyweds recessed as guests popped confetti.

Ahead of the seated reception, guests found their seats via custom chocolate boxes by Ceci New York and Compartes. Then, the couple went into their first dance to “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys.

Reese and Liz had a blast dancing with loved ones, aking glam black and white photos in their glamour booth, and cutting their Funfetti wedding cake from Whipped Bakeshop. And to spread the love, at the end of the night, the couple stayed behind to pick their flowers to donate to a local women’s shelter.
