Despite being college students at the same time and only a few miles apart in Boston, interior designer Molly Rather and Garrett Noonan did not meet until five years after graduating. The two immediately hit it off when they did eventually connect. They dated long-distance from New York City to Germany—where Garrett played professional hockey—until the pandemic hit and he returned to the United States. Two-and-half years later, Garrett proposed at The Summer House in Nantucket, a place where each of them had spent summers visiting with family.

Both being from the Northeast, Molly knew she wanted to host her wedding weekend her favorite warm-weather destination, Palm Beach. “The Flagler Museum caught our eye while golfing one afternoon at The Breakers. You can see it from one of the putting greens on the golf course,” she explains. “The next day, we went on a museum tour and instantly fell in love with the venue’s historical ties to Palm Beach. The ‘old world’ energy that exudes from the Flagler felt so romantic to us. This aesthetic echoed throughout all of the wedding decor elements—romantic and soft.” The couple enlisted Masi Events to execute each detail and Erika Delgado to capture every moment from behind the lens.

Working with Linden Illustration on our invitations was a highlight in the planning process!” the bride exclaims. Guests received a custom invitation suite with pastel floral detailing and a custom “M&G” logo that also decorated the stationery  and event details throughout the weekend.

Molly leaned into the color palette seen on the ceramic floor and wall tile in the reception room of the Flagler. “As an interior designer, it was important that the design aesthetic felt like an extension of the venue’s bones,” she notes. “To contrast some of the reception room’s black iron finishes and structured archways, I chose feminine florals and soft lines to soften where needed.” She chose tables of different shapes complete with dramatic floral runners and oversized cane chairs to “create a natural flow” throughout the room. Renny & Reed created a custom light blue and white tile pattern for the dance floor—the pop of color dedicated the space as the room’s focal point. A large white circle bar sat in the center of the room to contrast against the beautiful green archways that detail the Pavilion room cocktail hour.

The weekend began with a welcome party and rehearsal dinner at The Colony Hotel. “We knew the flare of the hotel would instantly put our guests who traveled from the Northeast in the Palm Beach spirit!” Molly shares. “I really leaned into the Palm Beach aesthetic for the design of both the rehearsal dinner and the welcome party. I wanted the welcome party to make guests feel like they had taken a time machine to a 1960s Palm Beach party with the geo-centric tablecloth prints, Floridian florals and oversized woven baskets throughout the grounds.” The cheerful energy on Friday truly set the tone for the weekend.

For this initial event, she wore a custom Markarian top and a gingham sequin skirt paired with a Bottega Veneta bag and Mach & Mach shoes. “I loved that the skirt’s colorway matched the hotel’s famous pink exterior. The skirt’s silhouette felt classic yet playful,” the bride explains.

Molly had always admired Carolina Herrera’s classically feminine designs, and when she visited the boutique in New York, she fell in love with the first dress she tried on. “I knew immediately it was my dress. I loved the clean strapless neckline and the fabric’s floral details added a feminine touch. The dress felt timeless and effortless, which I always look for when shopping for any occasion,” the bride notes. She finalized the look with a short heel from Stuart Weitzman’s bridal collection, a special nod to her experience as their global marketing manager.

Her wedding wardrobe was complete with a custom Markarian after-party look. Molly collaborated with the brand’s talented team of designers to add crystals to the waistline and neckline for a “glam element” as well as bows to the straps. When the bride featured the look, the band played Tina Turner’s “Bad Mary”—“such a fun moment,” the bride recalls.

On the day-of, Molly and her bridesmaids got ready in pink peony terry cloth robes by LoveShackFancy and pink gingham shorts by Hill House Home. Daniela Gozlan created the bride’s beauty look. “Pretty in Pink” was the theme for the bridesmaids’ dresses, so they complemented in florals, tulle, and silks in different shades of the color. Molly’s sisters wore Zimmerman and LoveShackFancy and their mother looked elegant in Oscar de la Renta. The groom donned a custom black tuxedo and black velvet Christian Louboutin smoking slippers.

On March 4, 2023, a sweet flower girl and four precious ring bearers graced the aisle before Molly and her father met Garrett in front of the altar at St. Ann Catholic Church. “Seeing Garrett for the first time, when I walked down the aisle with my dad in front of our family and friends was incredibly special,” the bride smiles. The same priest that married Molly’s parents officiated the ceremony. Family members shared readings, and Molly and Garrett sealed their vows with a kiss.

During the reception, sentimental toasts left everyone emotional. Guests sipped specialty cocktails and indulged in Constellation’s local Floridian fare, before the newlyweds shared their first dance to Van Morrison’s “Brown Eyed Girl” and Molly and her father danced to “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong. The couple cut their floral Earth and Sugar cake as Affinity Dance Band and Joha Sax kept the party enthused.

To cap the night off, everyone headed to a disco after-party back at The Colony Hotel. “The fried chicken sandwiches and glittery cowboy hats were crowd favorites,” the bride laughs. “We danced the night away with the DJ and sax player!”
