Monica Putri Rasyid and Nadhif Kasyvilla were fated to be together, but they met in a very professional setting. “Both of our companies were listed on the Indonesian Stock Exchange on the same day in 2022, and it was after the bell rang that we had the chance to network with other businesses,” Monica remembers. “That’s when we were introduced and discovered that our families had known each other since the ’90s and that our companies were both based in Central Borneo.”
They began a telephone friendship from different cities, which blossomed into something more; they eventually began dating and meeting in person at least once a month. That’s when it was revealed there was destiny in their connection. “When we shared the news that we were dating with our parents, they were overjoyed and revealed that they had tried to set us up secretly several times over the years but had never been successful,” Monica says. “It was as if the universe had finally conspired to bring us together—what some might call fate or a cosmic connection.”
They dated just seven months before Nadhif proposed on a trip to Japan. “From the very moment I met Monica, I knew this was something real,” he says. “Then it hit me—why wait any longer? I already knew she was my future, so why waste another day without her by my side?”
The next year was a whirlwind. The couple celebrated their wedding three times in three cities on two continents. “We got engaged in December, had our first wedding in May, the second in July, and the third in October,” Monica says. “The first two took place in Borneo and Jakarta, honoring our traditions. But for this third one, we wanted to approach it with a different mindset—more like a dream vacation with our closest loved ones, celebrating not just our union but the joy of being together in a beautiful place.”
The vision was Under the Tuscan Sun, and the couple brought on Over The Moon Editor’s Pick Planner Bespoke Unique Weddings & Events to plan and produce the celebration. “We wanted it to be outside the city, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes—my dream has always been to live in a stone house in the countryside,” Monica reveals. Instead, she got married at one, Villa Sant’Anna at Rosewood Castiglion Del Bosco. The weekend was full of festivities, including a bridal brunch around the pool and a welcome dinner, for which the venue was transformed into an Italian night market.
“On the morning of our wedding day, before the vows, we took part in a sacred ritual,” Monica says. She and Nadhif sat by the pool and practiced deep breathing. “We synced our breaths as we whispered how blessed and thankful we were for this moment—the opportunity to bring our loved ones together in this extraordinary experience. As we finished the ritual, the fog slowly began to lift, revealing the sun in all its glory.”
Then, she gathered her team—hair stylist Barbara Corso, makeup artist Sisy Makeup Artist, and bridal stylist Ghina Rizqi—to get ready. “I’ve always known I would wear Vivienne Westwood for my wedding, as I adore the simple yet feminine elegance,” Monica says. “The challenging part was choosing between the stunning dresses—each one was so beautiful. I ended up doing three fittings before I could make my final decision, ensuring that the dress not only matched the vibe of the event but also complemented Nadhif’s attire.”
For the reception, she changed into a Monique Lhuillier dress. “I wore the full set of my mahar, or dower, which was a beautiful gift from Nadhif on our wedding day,” she says. “In our Indonesian tradition, the groom gifts his bride a complete set of jewelry as a symbol of his love and commitment. I chose to wear it because it holds such precious memories and serves as a connection to our first wedding.”
On October 15, 2024, the couple exchanged vows in a private ceremony outside the castle ruins—just the two of them. Florist Federica Ambrosini decorated the location with a simple floral installation using leaves found in Tuscan trees and plants. “We kept the colors simple and classic, only using different shades of greens and white; the setup reminded me of a fairy forest,” Monica says.
“Nadhif and I celebrated our wedding in so many beautiful ways, endless traditional weddings surrounded by our parents, families, and a large guest list, but we never really had a moment just for the two of us between all the chaos,” the bride explains. The couple wanted their private moment. “Walking down the aisle with only him by my side felt nothing short of magical. Looking at my soulmate and making vows that felt like a sacred promise was like stepping into a dream. I’ve never felt so pure in my words, and hearing his voice made me feel so deeply loved.”
But then, it was time to amp up the drama. The dinner reception was held beneath a glass marquee by Le Coperture. “I wanted something dramatic, a setting filled with romantic passion,” Monica says. “LXE concepted decor with red blooming roses to bring that vision to life. We designed a red drapery installation for the ceiling inspired by opera theaters, and mixed it with floating tapered candles and rose garlands to make it romantic and dreamy.”
The seated dinner included multiple courses of Tuscan cuisine amplified with local black truffles, a traditional Italian millefoglie, and entertainment from a 12-piece band performing an international repertoire. “The highlight of the reception was the dance with my father, where he then gave me to Nadhif,” Monica says. “The ritual held such deep meaning. I’ll never forget the tears in our eyes as we shared that moment, a beautiful, emotional exchange that I’ll hold in my heart forever. . . Then, our parents joined us on the dance floor, followed by our siblings. It was such a heartwarming moment as we all danced together, two families becoming one in the most beautiful way.”
That was just the start of an evening filled with memorable moments. “Every part of this wedding was infused with such incredible energy,” Monica says. “From the start of the reception, the vibe was electric, and everyone was so hyped up.”
