After accepting an invitation to play pickleball and share a meal with mutual friends, Andrew Ryan McFarland couldn’t stop looking over at model Sarah-Baskin Champion during dinner. Post-meal, Andrew decided to shoot his shot and send Baskin a DM over Instagram asking her out. She accepted, and soon after, they went for a walk on the beach as their first date.

Fast-forward a year later and the two were again on a beach, but this time on the opposite coast and Andrew had an important question for Baskin. They were vacationing along 30A in Florida with her family, and Baskin was convinced they were headed down to the coastline at sunset to take a Christmas card one night. “I saw a romantic set up on the beach, but didn’t think anything of it until Andrew stopped me, grabbed my hands, and began professing his love for me,” Baskin recalls. “I realized what was happening. It was such a magical moment—with a beautiful sunset lighting up the sky—in a place I’ve gone to my whole life and have so many great memories at, but this one definitely takes the cake.”

Once engaged, the bride-to-be “looked for the easiest, prettiest place to get married,” and swiftly booked the Palos Verdes Golf Club, she explains. To help bring their vision to life, the couple hired Melinda Hurley of Canary Events, and Rachel and Noah Ray were behind the lens for the whole weekend.

For her summer wedding, Baskin went dress shopping with her mom and sister, Abby Champion, and ended up falling in love with an Ines Di Santo off-the-shoulder dress. On the day-of, the bride got ready with Jill Powell and Jessica Tabon, who gave the model a subtle beauty look. Bridesmaids complemented Baskin well in different styles from Bec & Bridge. And at the end of the night, she changed into a chic skirt set that her friend and fellow Over The Moon Bride, Μacye Wysner of CINQ, made her for.

On July 31, 2022, Andrew’s pastor led the outdoor ceremony. Baskin walked down the aisle with her father and held a beautiful bouquet by Nancy Keating. “It was quite a sacred moment in front of our closest family and friends, with God at the center,” Baskin says of the service. Throughout her time standing at the altar, the bride was overwhelmed with emotions, excitement, and love. “It was the best thing ever.”

After being announced as officially married, the party kicked off inside the clubhouse, and the newlyweds had their first dance to “The Rest of Our Lives” by Drew Green. During the seated dinner, the father of the bride and the couple’s siblings all made heartfelt toasts. “It was so special hearing all the kind words from all our loved ones and having everyone together to celebrate our love and life as husband and wife,” Baskin beams. For dessert, the pair cut their tiered wedding cake by Torrance Bakery.

Soon after the dance floor had been properly celebrated on with DJ Ace and the couple said their goodbyes to friends and family, the McFarlands said aloha to a Hawaiian 10-day honeymoon on Kauai—a tropical and tranquil start to married life.
