Geoff Lieberthal received the best birthday present at his SoHo rooftop party when he met two time Olympic figure skater and silver medalist Sasha Cohen. They hit it off, and years later, he proposed to her in front of the Louvre Museum.

The newly engaged couple later lived in Aspen, falling in love with the mountainside splendor all around them. When thinking of how to translate that awe for their guests, they decided a gondola ride to the top of Ajax Mountain would make their wedding all the more memorable and unique. They enlisted Something Blue by Bluebird to plan and make this a reality, and they turned to Bonnie Sen Photography to capture the wedding on camera. With everything in order, Geoff and Sasha sent off their Kelsie Malie Design invitations for their mid-September nuptials.

Sasha emulated Grace Kelly’s elegant, timeless bridal style with an Ines Di Santo dress. But when it arrived in the mail, she discovered that the dress didn’t fit. . .One month before the wedding date. She opted for a floor model instead and had it altered with one week left. Everything came together at the last minute, and her new dress paired beautifully with her Jimmy Choo heels, grandmother’s pearl bracelet, and pearl necklace from a close family friend. Ana Belen and Vanessa Vieni styled her glamorous wedding day hair and makeup. Geoff kept his groom outfit dapper and classic with a Giorgio Armani suit.

On September 16, 2022, guests gathered for the mountain wedding ceremony with a serenade from Silver City Strings. The father of the groom officiated and was able to make the service truly personal to the couple. Sasha’s bridesmaids donned sky blue dresses that blended into the vista. The bridesman sported a floral boutonniere by the florist, Carolyn’s Flowers. The groomsmen similarly dressed with “flair” and wore scarves and sneakers. When asked how the ceremony felt, Sasha describes it best as “transcendent.” It was magical and surreal for the couple to have their kids present and watching them exchange vows. It was also, she confesses, quite cold on the mountain! Guests, like her soon-to-be sister-in-law, actress Julianna Margulies, kept warm in fashionable layers.

A joyous reception followed with a four-course meal, cookies, and pizza. The sister of the bride, brother of the groom, and father of the bride shared touching toasts before the couple shared their first dance and cut their cake from Coppelia Cake Design. This was definitely Sasha’s favorite moment. “The cake almost fell on us as we tried to cut the first piece,” she recalls. “We were laughing so hard, and the photos are priceless!”

With Manhattan Band at the helm of entertainment, the rest of the night was a blur of dancing, which continued at their Duemani after-party.
