Fans of the feminine, Hamptons wardrobe staple that is LoveShackFancy are no longer limited to making the trek to Sag Harbour to shop in a space dedicated to the brand. West Village, rejoice! Rebecca Hessel Cohen has opened up shop on Bleecker Street, and it’s impossible not to be lured in by the storefront, which effortlessly transports onlookers to the quaintest English rose garden.
Inside the space is even more like that fairytale you’ve always wanted to live in. Ribbon spools fill an exposed wardrobe, lined with rose print paper. There is no lack of flora, here. A floral arrangement greets you at the front, while vines of roses line the store. The interior completely highlights and elevates the clothing, which is delicately beautiful and makes you wonder why you can’t frolic in romantic fields all day—the dresses also make the perfect bridesmaid dresses!
“We wanted to have much as pride and add as much magic and beauty to our store as they do in London and Paris. We created an environment that welcomes our customers into our world and share in the magic of everything that we love from wild florals to mementos from our travels. It only felt fitting to have rose covered wisteria welcome our LoveShack girls to our Bleecker Street Shop,” explains Cohen.
The shop also somewhat marks a resurgence in independent designers calling Bleecker Street their retail home. Lingua Franca, which makes the coziest cashmere sweaters emblazoned with messages, was opened in November and ballerina flat specialist Margaux and luxe linen brand Hill House Home are also there.
Cohen understands the neighborhood well, as she lives down the street, and says, “The resurgence of independent designers that bring personal touches and experiences to the shopping environment is so inspiring. We hope to bring back the soul and creativity of the brick and mortar experience. The West Village exudes an excitement, passion, history and sense of community. We believe our store will be a destination for uptown girls, downtown girls and Brooklyn girls alike.”
The most exciting part of a Manhattan location for Cohen is “the mix of a customer base, spanning from old West Village locals to international visitors. Also, you never know who is going to walk in,” she says.
What is quite unique to this location, in comparison with the Hamptons one, is that the shop is selling select up-cycled vintage pieces along with its designed selections. You can purchase to your hearts content with your sustainable worries put to bed!
When asked if a U.K. location could be in the future because of how thematically on-point it would be, Cohen says, “I would absolutely love to. I majored in British Literature at NYU, so I am forever inspired by British Sensibility. After all, our girls always seem to feel like they are straight out of a Jane Austen novel.”
