Georgia Winifred Gomez, who works in event strategy and production at an iconic luxury fashion house, and Samuel Hildreth Bristol met in a chance encounter on a Friday night in New York City. After seven years, two of which were long-distance between New York and New Hampshire, he proposed during a long weekend on Martha’s Vineyard with both of their families.

For nearly 19 years, Georgia’s family has been going to a very small town in the South of France, and that was where she always knew she wanted to get married. On Thursday night, her family hosted a welcome party, and Sam’s family hosted the rehearsal dinner at Coquillade Village. For the wedding, they picked a wonderful small church in Cabrières-d’Avignon and La Bastide de Gordes for the reception.

“We wanted to keep everything very natural and true to the Provence region,” Georgia explains. “We used lots of linens, fresh wildflowers, and, of course, lavender and served all French and Provencal food!” To help plan their summer wedding, they hired Lucy Till French Weddings.

When it came to choosing her wedding dress, Georgia ended up choosing the second dress she tried on at Lela Rose. “It was classic, comfortable, and, yes, I cried a little when I put it on,” she says. After dinner, she immediately changed into a linen Zimmermann dress to dance the hot, French night away in.

On the day-of, it actually turned out to be the hottest weekend on record in the South of France in nearly 60 years. Inside the church, the couple exchanged vows they had written themselves and walked out joyfully as husband and wife.

Once everyone arrived at La Bastide, they found their seats at a singular long table for dinner, consisting of French dishes like foie gras, duck, and a cheese course for dessert. After the meal, guests moved inside the hotel for dancing.

“We love that in Europe you can have music going until 4:00 a.m., and let me tell you, there were many that did not leave the dance floor until then,” Georgia says. The newlyweds had their first dance to “River” by Leon Bridges, followed by a rousing “Signed, Sealed, Delivered.”

After saying au revoir to their guests, Georgia and Sam headed on an amazing two-week safari in Tanzania for their honeymoon.
