This past summer my husband and I were lucky enough to get to attend my college roommate’s wedding in Italy (her feature is forthcoming!). I’d never been to the Amalfi Coast before so we jumped at the opportunity to spend some time exploring a place that had always been on our bucket list. After lots of research, we booked a room at Palazzo Avino. Brides magazine dubbed it one of their top ten honeymoon hotels in Europe, and it does not disappoint. We spent our days hiking around the hills, checking out the shops in Ravello, and lounging by the pool. Anthony Ferrara, the hotel’s front office manager, was wonderful and possessed an unparalleled attention to detail (his warmth was reminiscent of the sweet concierge played by Hector Elizondo in Pretty Woman). One morning, he arranged for us to take out a small boat with a captain, so we could explore the other towns on the coast, including Positano and Amalfi, and we had a blast. We also spent two days hanging out at the beach club, which is a short van ride away from the hotel, and loved having lunch by the water and every second of swimming in the Mediterranean. If you’re planning a honeymoon in Italy, I highly recommend this place!
