After Esencial Hogar Owner Celina Wright and Arnau, got engaged in April 2023, they quickly agreed that they wanted to tie the knot that fall in his home city of Barcelona. Miraculously, the Abbey of Montserrat had an opening for September 30, and the couple swiftly booked it. Following the ceremony, guests joined at Llotja de Mar in the city center.

“Both the ceremony venue and the reception venue are historical places that take your breath away,” Celina shares. “We didn’t want to compete with that and really wanted to let the space shine, that dictated the whole aesthetic.” Of course, an Esencial Hogar tablecloth draped the reception tables—Celina kept gravitating toward the Cosmo in green. That same shade of olive was incorporated into the invitations and day-of stationery. Salvadoran artist Andrea Ramirez beautifully drew Antonio Gouda’s works for the tables—the main table was aptly dubbed “Sagrada Familia.”

“It was very easy for me to envision the whole wedding,” Celina shares. “I created mood boards with specific notes to send to our planners. I did the layout of the tables and was incredibly specific, to the point of laying out exactly how I wanted each place setting laid out in AutoCad.” Detallerie masterfully brought the bride’s vision to life, and florals by Bouquet were chosen according to what was in season.

As modern brides do, while scrolling on Instagram, Celina found her Emilia Wickstead wedding dress. Since she lives in El Salvador, and the brand is based in London, Celina ordered a similar dress to try test out the fit. She loved it, and after the Emilia Wickstead team sent over fabric and veil swatches, they began to product the bride’s dream dress. In July, Celina traveled to London for the first fitting, and then had it shipped to Barcelona. “It fit like a glove,” the bride gushes. “[I] didn’t even have to get it hemmed.”

On the day-of, Celina got ready with makeup artist Lenna, who gave the bride a natural beauty look with Clé de Peau foundation. Celina styled her ceremony look with her grandmother’s earrings. “The diamond starburst portion of the earring was my great grandmother’s, and my grandmother added the pearl when she inherited them,” the bride explains. “She gave them to my mother, and as soon as I saw them, I knew I had to wear them.” Celina also placed her mother’s vintage hair clip in her tresses before walking down the aisle.

For her second look of the day, Celina trusted her good friend Kris Goyri to design something she could dance in. “We chose wide leg silk pants paired with a blazer with balloon sleeves,” the bride shares. “I literally danced non-stop and took the blazer off and wore a crop top with a beautiful neck detail that was kind of like a third look, but not.”

At noon on the day-of, Celina first saw Arnau across the aisle in the abbey. He was waiting in a traditional Chaque suit from Santa Eulalia. “I thought I would be anxious because I knew a lot of tourists would be around, but that sort of helped, and I was just the happiest I have ever been,” the bride smiles. “Some of the tourists kept calling my name out and congratulating me when I was walking down the aisle, and it made me laugh. Turns out, our planners had a sign with both of our names and that’s how they knew.”

After sharing a first kiss as officially married, the newlyweds and their guests traveled an hour back into the city and were greeted with an aperitivo in the courtyard. “We served traditional Catalan Cava but added a candied hibiscus bloom, merging both of our cultures,” Celina shares. “I gave up alcohol a couple of years ago, and it was important to me to have options. I ordered French Bloom Champagne, and our caterer got my favorite alcohol-free vermouth.”

Following heartfelt speeches, everyone moved into the dining hall for the delicious late lunch/early dinner from Merces of steak with mushrooms and potato gratin. “After dinner was served and before dancing, Arnau gave a speech. He wanted to thank everyone for coming and in that speech he also thanked me for all the planning and love that went into our wedding,” Celina blushes. “I wasn’t expecting that and it was my favorite moment.” The couple then had their first dance to “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” followed by the father-daughter dance to “My Girl.”

To open the dance floor up to the rest of the party, Soundworks Pro. played “September” through the speakers. Celina changed into her second look and arrived back on the checkered floor as “Dancing Queen” played. “I wanted to add a little something to the party, and we handed out these paper face masks with different historical figures. I put on a Marylin Monroe one,” Celina laughs. “Seeing everyone have a laugh and dance with their face masks on was my second favorite moment of the reception.”

Well after the wedding night came to a close, the newlyweds took off to New Zealand for their romantic honeymoon.
