“I was very much inspired by the golden age of Hollywood, Slim Aarons photography, and of course La Dolce Vita. I wanted a timeless and elegant aesthetic that still felt vibrant and youthful,” Daisy Bishop shares of her wedding vision. As the groom, James Crowley, is a London native, the pair knew they would host the September soiree on neutral ground. Over The Moon–favorite planner Marcy Blum suggested Capri, and the rest was history—“it has such a glamorous history of all the glitterati vacationing there. Everywhere you go looks like a Slim Aarons photograph.” The Lemon Tree Collective’s maritime invitation suite set the tone for the festivities to come.
The bride has always been drawn to Audrey Hepburn’s refined sense of style, and in turn, her wedding day ensemble emulated a timeless elegance reminiscent of the ’50s icon. “For my wedding dress, I quickly realized I didn’t want anything with too many embellishments or appliques, so I leaned towards lace,” Daisy says. “I found a Dana Harel dress that ticked all my boxes. I felt so effortlessly romantic and elegant in it and the veil with the lace trim added an Italian touch.” She accessorized with Paul Morelli pearl studs— “There is something about a stud with a bare collarbone that feels so fresh to me.” On the day of, Beauty Livery and Alessandra Macism highlighted her natural features with a fresh, rosy beauty look.
James—in true British fashion—chose tassel loafers and a tailored tuxedo. Groomsmen also donned the classic black tie look, while bridesmaids wore V. Chapman dresses.
James and Daisy spent the days leading up to their wedding wandering across the Capri coastline, in the water at La Fontelina and dining on bright Coro Cora tablescapes at La Canzone del Mare as The Phly Boyz’s melodies filled the air. All the while, Bottega53 photographed every moment beautifully.
On September 16, 2023, on the grand terrace of the Caesar Augustus Hotel, Daisy and James said, “I do,” underneath a collection of Capri Flor arrangements. The two exchanged vows in view of the water before sealing it all with a kiss amidst the claps and cheers of loved ones. “It simply felt like magic,” the bride shares. “The moment my mother started walking me down the aisle it started to sprinkle with rain. I smiled immediately as I remembered the old phrase: ‘It’s good luck for it to rain on your wedding day.’”
Afterward, guests met under the lemon trees at Da Paolino where everyone dined on burrata, veal Milanese and sea bass. Daisy featured an Elizabeth Filmore second look and the newlyweds placed strawberries on their wedding cake—the final touch—before dancing to Frank Sinatra’s “Just The Way You Look Tonight”. The Fellas, a band Daisy and James first heard in London, took care of the entertainment all evening. “The Fellas did a surprise performance of ‘My Pony’ and, needless to say, jaws dropped. It was such a high being able to dance with all my best friends,” she reminisces.
The celebrations continued at local island club, Taverna Anema a Core. The energy only heightened as the night went on. Endless bottles of Champagne and jingles of tambourines kept everyone up and out. “It was the best way to round off the best week of my life,” Daisy says. The following morning, the newlyweds took a train to Florence, the first stop of their whimsical multi-destination honeymoon. Daisy and James spent the following days in pure bliss soaking it all in under the Italian sun.
