Emma Molson was good friends with Fred Vennat’s younger brother in high school, so the two grew up in the same circles, but it wasn’t until later at a Tiesto concert, when they really connected. “I guess meeting in the club is considered the old fashioned way to meet nowadays!” Emma exclaims.
After eight years together, Fred proposed at his family’s country home in the Eastern Townships in Québec. “We took the boat out, and we anchored at our favorite bay to swim in the lake,” Emma recalls. “I was so shocked when he pulled the ring out! We drank Champagne on the boat, listened to Leon Bridges—our favorite—and soaked in the moment, just the two of us out on the water.”
As the couple grew up going to Mount Bruno Country Club with their families, it only made sense to say, “I do,” there. “Aesthetically, we wanted that countryside in Provence feel—loose bouquets, a lot of color, and lavender sachets for each guest to bring home,” Emma shares. “Nothing too formal or serious!” Tania Tassone of TassONE Events helped the two bring their vision to life, and Katie Fischer Design set the tone for the weekend with an elegant invitation suite.
For the wedding day, Fred got his midnight blue tuxedo at Thom Sweeney. “He looked so handsome!” the bride exclaims.
Emma had a feeling that she would find her dress at Monique Lhuillier. “I had seen some of her designs online that incorporated green embroidery, and I loved them,” the bride explains. “When we got there, my sister, Brittany, suggested I try the dress I ended up choosing. I felt so happy in it and totally like myself.” Emma’s sister, who wore a bright pink Giambattista Valli dress, also lent Emma the same diamond earrings she wore on her own wedding day for the “something borrowed.”
On the day-of, the bride got ready with makeup artist Sophie Parrot and hairstylist Angela Lucia, who gave her a natural beauty look. And later on in the night, the bride changed into a mini dress by Self-Portrait.
On August 20, 2022, Emma walked down the aisle with her father to the floral arch by Fleurs des Jardins. “I was nervous, excited, and hot—it was 86°F that day!” the bride exclaims. “But as he always does, my dad calmed my nerves before walking out together.” Emma’s brother-in-law, Johnny, acted as the officiant, and Fred’s sister, Mimi, read beautiful scripture aloud in French. After exchanging vows and being announced as officially married, the newlyweds kicked off dancing under their reception tent.
Emma and Fred had their first dance to “The Best” by Tina Turner that started slow and then picked up, so everyone could join them on the dance floor. “There was a moment in the night when our guests were disappointed that the band was done playing, but then everyone got so excited again and pumped up when the saxophone player came out to join us on the dance floor to play with the DJ’s music,” the bride says of one of her favorite moments of the reception. “We of course played a lot of Tiesto!”
After cutting the cake by Ristorante Beatrice, the after-party kept the celebration going in a small bar in the golf club. “My bridesmaids definitely kept the party going!” Emma assures us. Once their wedding day officially ended, the two jet off to the South of France for a romantic honeymoon. “It was magical!”
