Grace Knowlton Hyde and Randolph “Tally” Talbott Walker, Jr. met out on the water in Palm Beach. During a boat day, mutual friends introduced the two and sparks flew. “He was beating everyone at backgammon! I thought he was so cool,” she laughs.

Two years later, Tally proposed atop a mountain in Aspen. On the day-of, the pair headed up the gondola to view friend and acclaimed photographer Gray Malin’s new project. As they settled to take in the view, Tally got down on one knee. Everyone celebrated with Champagne and caviar before the couple headed back down the mountain to spend the afternoon at The St. Regis—playing backgammon, of course—before heading to The Little Nell for dinner.

“We wanted to pay homage to the historical traditions of Palm Beach, and remain extremely traditional,” Grace shares of her wedding vision. “Both of our families hold history close to their hearts. Tally has been a member of his church for 30 years, and I fell in love with the community of the congregation.” Emily Sherman of Event Bliss planned the weekend, while Nick Mele photographed.

“Our invitation design was clean and simple and based off my grandmother’s wedding invitation from the ‘40s,” the bride-to-be notes. Sohan Khalsa created a custom suite, detailed with pink flamingos—befitting the weekend’s pink color scheme.

Grace chose a custom Oscar de la Renta dress for her wedding day. “I loved the fern pattern, it was perfect for Palm Beach,” she shares. The ensemble was complete with a matching caplet and a cathedral-length veil—“a look that was hand embroidered by 10 dressmakers and took more than 1,440 hours to create.”

The bride accessorized with diamond stud earrings, a pearl necklace from her grandmother, and a Tiffany & Co. sapphire Schlumberger ring—a gift from her mother-in-law and her “something blue.” Later in the evening, Grace changed into something fit for dancing—a shorter version of her wedding dress, also by Oscar de la Renta.

Tally donned a Marco’s Custom Tailors tuxedo and paired it with black velvet loafers. Groomsmen matched with embroidered cumberbuns as bridesmaids complemented in pink Sachin & Babi dresses. Gem Makeup Artistry created Grace’s beauty look, as everyone sipped peach bellinis. “Getting dressed in my mother-in-law’s art gallery was a dream,” she shares.

On March 4, 2023, Grace met Tally before the altar of The Church of Bethesda-By-The-Sea, and the two said, “I do,” surrounded by loved ones. “I felt complete joy that I was becoming Mrs. Walker and marrying the love of my life. I was excited and at peace all in one!” she exclaims. A 12-person church choir harmonized, as the bride and groom walked back down the aisle the ceremony as newlyweds.

Everyone enjoyed sunset cocktails on the lawn overlooking the water and guests left notes in a Palm Beach Assouline book. “[I] can’t wait to read what everyone wrote!” Grace smiles.

Event Bliss roses, tulips, and orchids enchanted the space, as Courtland & Co. embroidered napkins and hand-painted Sohan Khalsa menus detailed the tablescapes at the reception. Guests gathered for a dinner featuring Maine lobster with caviar, beef tournedo, and halibut with citrus beurre blanc.

Thoughtful toasts were given before Grace and Tally shared a first dance to Frank Sinatra’s “I Love You, Baby” strummed beautifully by The Band Method. Then, everyone hit the dance floor under a canopy of white balloons.

A lively saxophonist had everyone on their feet all evening, until guests traveled to Cucina for late-night dancing and drinks. They raised a final glass to the newlyweds, before the couple called it a night. The next day the two in wedded bliss escaped to Jamaica for a mini moon.
