Throughout their marriage, Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady have been the ultimate example of #couplegoals—and today in honor of their tenth anniversary, the supermodel took to Instagram to share a never before seen photo from their wedding in Santa Monica to celebrate.
According to Bündchen, their romance started as love at first sight. “We met through a friend. The moment I saw him, he smiled and I was like, That is the most beautiful, charismatic smile I’ve ever seen!” she told Vanity Fair. After that initial meeting the pair became inseparable, and in January 2009, Brady proposed to Gisele. Aside from the time frame, the ultra private couple have managed to keep the details of their engagement a secret.
Just two months later, the two got hitched in Santa Monica. “We planned it in like ten days, and it was perfect,” Brady revealed in an interview with GQ. The only guests were Tom and Gisele’s parents and Brady’s son, John, with his ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan. “We went back to the house and I barbecued aged New York strips. We had champagne, a cake, some ice cream. It was a great night. I think you always have this idea that weddings need to be 200 people and you invite everybody, and I’m all for it if people want to do that, but I think there was really something special about just having our parents there.”
And yet, a simple wedding wasn’t the only celebration for this power couple. In April of that same year, Gisele and Tom tied the knot for the second time at their house in Costa Rica. But it wasn’t a bash filled with fashion’s glitterati. This ceremony was only a slightly larger affair, with just about 40 or so members of their extended family joining them for their tropical follow-up event. Just like their first celebration, photos weren’t shared widely. Thankfully, a few years later, Gisele generously gave us a glimpse of her wedding on Instagram in commemoration of their fifth wedding anniversary. “Magical day!” She caption the throwback photo, and we finally got to see her wedding dress: a sequined showstopper by Dolce & Gabbana.
The story doesn’t end there though. Last year, in another adorable Instagram shout out to her hubby, Gisele posted a photo of the other dress she wore to her wedding in Costa Rica; a white satin silk bias cut gown designed by John Galliano, which reportedly had a six foot long lace train. Maybe for their tenth anniversary next year we’ll finally get to see at the full look?
