Madeline Irene Demoulas, who works with her family’s supermarket business, and Matthew Dolan Kelley, the director of client strategy of Twitch, are both true Bostonians with deep roots in their community, and once they got engaged, the two wanted to take their wedding guests on a journey. “Because my parents and grandparents had such special experiences at The Plaza, we decided to take a look at New York City,” Madeline shares. “The city is not what one thinks of when planning a destination wedding, but that’s exactly what we did.”

To masterfully plan their Manhattan wedding weekend, the amazing Marcy Blum stepped in. “Working with Marcy has truly been a gift, as she helped us to envision what we would like our wedding day to be and then created a most special day that we could only have imagined in our dreams,” Madeline gushes.

While at Carolina Herrera’s NYC flagship, Madeline managed to secure a bridal appointment and selected the Reign dress. It was luckily ready just mere days before her trip down the aisle. The bride styled her gown with Manolo Blahnik’s white satin Hangisi heels with a blue jewel buckle, a vintage Chanel clutch, and jewelry from David Yurman.

On the morning-of, Madeline got ready with hairstylist Tarek Makki and makeup artist Ashlee Glazer, who gave her a very simple but elevated bridal beauty look. Her talented day-of wedding dresser was Julie Sabatino with her associates from The Stylish Bride. Before the after-party, Madeline made a quick change into a mini Retrofête dress and black and gold Manolo Blahnik heels.

Madeline’s two sisters and maids of honor, Irene and Mary, complemented the bride well in Carolina Herrera gold sequin dresses “that matched their glamorous personalities,” the bride quips. Her 12 bridesmaids looked elegant in Champagne Amsale dresses from L’Elite in Boston.

On May 7, 2022, Matthew waited for his bride at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola. Madeline walked down the aisle with her father to “Ave Maria,” sung by the Saint Ignatius Choir, and the traditional Roman Catholic ceremony commenced. The bride’s pastor, Reverend Nicholas Sannella of Immaculate Conception Church in Lowell, Massachusetts, performed the service. In a full circle moment, the New Testament reading was given by Catie Royal Riva, who first introduced Madeline and Matthew. Then the couple exchanged vows, witnessed a blessing over their rings, and then, together, received a Nuptial Blessing.

The reception, stunningly decorated by Ed Libby & Co., was hosted in the ballroom at The Plaza. The father of the bride, Arthur Telemachus Demoulas, gave the first toast and spoke about how his parents always stayed at The Plaza and had dinner in the Palm Court, where Madeline had her cocktail reception.

Arthur went on to tell the story of his grandfather, Athanasios Demoulas, who arrived from Greece to New York City on March 17, 1906 and was greeted by a grand parade. He immediately assumed this was how all immigrants were welcomed to America, until someone translated that it was Saint Patrick’s Day and the Irish were celebrating. It was a fitting tale, as Matthew’s family immigrated from Ireland. “Athanasios set the stage for us here this evening to be celebrating with Madeline and Matthew,” Arthur toasted.

After the delicious multi-course seated dinner, Element Music entertained the guests before the newlyweds cut their cake by Charlotte Neuville Cakes + Confections on one of the balconies in the ballroom. The couple had their first dance to “You Are the Best Thing,” by Ray LaMontagne. “Matthew and I took dance lessons leading up to our wedding, and they paid off!” Madeline exclaims.

To end a perfect wedding night, a gospel choir led everyone to the after-party with flair in the Oak Room, where people were greeted with espresso martinis and late-night eats.
