When Apricity Event Co. Owner Rachel Urban spotted Australian Isaac Brian Orr from across the bar scene on a night out in Williamsburg, she walked right over and as she ordered a drink, he struck up a conversation. Five years later, Isaac dropped to one knee on the boardwalk in Brooklyn. The two celebrated with salt-rimmed grapefruit margaritas at a nearby restaurant. “It was really special just being in our own bubble for a couple of hours before calling friends and family,” Rachel recalls. “Our waitress at Sweetwater made an exception and wrote down the grapefruit margarita recipe we were loving at dinner, and we still have the handwritten recipe at home to mix up and remind us of that night.”

“When we saw Mountain Shadows, it just ticked all of the boxes,” Rachel says of their Arizona wedding venue. “The food and venue team were phenomenal, and the setting was everything we wanted.” As Slim Aarons photographed the desert-front destination in the ’60s, it was only right that the couple use his ionic work, Poolside with Slim Aarons, as a guestbook on the day-of. The couple enlisted Mila & May to design the wedding invitations and Hannah Marich to photograph. Of course, the bride herself planned and designed everything leading up to the wedding weekend, and Sara Landon took over coordination.

Curating a detailed wardrobe for the weekend of pre and post-ceremony activities was especially exciting for the bride-to-be. For the welcome party, she donned a Cult Gaia set complete with Anita Berisha earrings. HVH Faces styled her hair and makeup looks.

“On the wedding day, I wore the Capri dress by Sarah Seven. I admire the designer very much and just knew from the beginning I needed to be in one of her dresses,” Rachel notes. After the ceremony, she slipped into a Sachin & Babi look which felt very ’80s-inspired. It all came together with pumps by Badgley Mishka. As for Issac, he looked dapper in muted-toned suits by Black Tux.

On April 14, 2023, Rachel and Isaac said, “I do,” with loved ones perched before them as the sun drifted below Camelback Mountain. “Isaac’s cousin, Sally, officiated the ceremony, and it felt really special having a family member guide us through these important moments! Our sisters both gave readings which was such a personal way to incorporate them into the day,” the bride recalls. With fewer than 100 guests, the ceremony emulated a relaxed, intimate celebration perfectly reminiscent of the couple.

After a few portraits, the newlyweds rejoined guests for Aperol Spritzes before everyone gathered on a glowing outdoor overlook for dinner surrounded by warm Nicole Ko florals. Sea bass, truffle chicken, and risotto headlined the Scripted Studio Co. menu. After dinner and a slice of New York-style cheesecake, family members queued up for toasts. A friend of the groom comically introduced every upcoming speaker—a lighthearted Australian wedding tradition which kept the night flowing seamlessly.

“We had fun creating playlists for cocktail hour and dinner with some Shania Twain, Dolly Parton, Fleetwood Mac, and more,” Rachel says of the specially curated ambiance. Then the newlyweds shared a first dance to Fleetwood Mac’s “Everywhere” before cutting into the A Bakeshop wedding cake. Everyone spent the evening underneath the light of the disco ball alongside Jordan Kahn Orchestra’s Georgia Bridgewater Band. “We could not believe how fast the dance party flew by!”
