After spending the day at the most magical place on Earth, Disney World, Oscar Leong took his girlfriend of two years, Wani Qiu, to a surprise garden location and got down on one knee. Once engaged, the two quickly decided on a summer wedding at Oheka Castle on Long Island, where Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” music video was shot. “The ‘Blank Space’ music video definitely didn’t hurt!” Wani laughs.

To bring their fairytale vision to life, the couple hired Tzo Ai Ang of Ang Weddings and Events to plan their nuptials, and Kylee Yee was expertly behind the lens. Fourteen-Forty set the tone with a beautiful invitation suite.

During her wedding dress search, Wani tried on lots of styles and ended up falling in love with Mira Zwillinger’s ethereal Gigi dress. On the day-of, she got ready in a Sleeper dress with makeup artist Chiali Meng, and bridesmaids complemented her well in Jenny Yoo blush looks.

“I also knew I wanted something red to represent my Chinese heritage, as red is an auspicious color traditionally worn by brides,” Wani shares. For the reception, she changed into a Monique Lhuillier style. And finally, the bride ended the night in an Oscar de la Renta minidress.

On July 10, 2022—after postponing twice due to the pandemic—Wani finally walked down the aisle with her father, as Luminous Sounds’s string section soundtracked their promenade. She and Oscar wed under a beautiful floral installation by A.P. Bio. “It was personal, emotional, and a culmination of years of anticipation,” Wani says. “While the ceremony was happening, we both felt like we were speaking to each other through our glances and smiles.”

The reception was a lively affair. The speeches were heartfelt—especially those broadcasted via Zoom from one of Wani’s maids of honor and Oscar’s brother and sister, as they had Covid. “It was special to have them still be a part of the reception, and we are so grateful to our amazing team for making this happen,” the bride reflects.

Wani and Oscar shared a first dance to “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Kina Grannis and continued celebrating with their loved ones through the night with DJ Joe Lopez of Beat Train. For their honeymoon, the newlyweds jetted off to two romantic destinations, the Amalfi Coast and Santorini.
