Happy Fifth Anniversary Kim Kardashian and Kanye West!

By Over The Moon

The month of celebrity anniversaries continues! Following in the steps of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick, and Pippa Middleton, now it’s Kanye West and Kim Kardashian West’s turn to celebrate five years of marriage.

The reality star has been teasing photos from her 2014 wedding in Italy all week on her Instagram account—mainly because she’s launching a KKW makeup line inspired by her bridal look dubbed the “Mrs. West Collection.” To celebrate their May 24th anniversary, let’s take a look back at their extravagant, over-the-top European nuptials, shall we?

Stepping into Versailles both in Margiela

Kim and Kanye initially wanted to get married in Versailles—because, of course—but after permission to have their ceremony there was denied, they instead chose to host their rehearsal dinner at the spectacular French palace, which once served as the home of Marie Antoinette.

The couple arrived in a horse drawn, gilded carriage in matching Marginal tuxedo looks and entertained guests including designers Valentino Garavani, Alexander Wang, director Steve McQueen, Serena Williams, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen.

For entertainment, Kanye asked Lana del Rey, one of Kim’s favorite artists, to perform at their rehearsal dinner. (If you recall, Kanye proposed to Kim at San Francisco’s AT&T Park while a 50-piece orchestra played Lana Del Rey’s song, “Young and Beautiful.”) According to one of Kim’s Instagram posts, everyone later danced all night in the rain.

The day after, the couple flew friends and family over to Florence, Italy, where they were set to tie the knot at the Forte di Belvedere. For her third walk down the aisle, Kim wore a custom long-sleeved, low-back, lace Givenchy Haute Couture gown designed by friend Riccardo Tisci. Kanye, meanwhile, went with a classic black tuxedo, also by Givenchy. Kim later changed into a sequin and pearl mini dress by Balmain.

Kim was walked down the aisle by her then stepfather, Caitlyn Jenner (formerly known as Bruce), while Andrea Bocelli sang songs including “Con Te Partiré.” The two exchanged vows in front of an all-white floral wall that has since become a top wedding trend.

At their ensuing reception, friend John Legend performed “All Of You,” for the couple’s first dance. Instead of paper place cards, the names of each of their guests were engraved in the marble dinner tables by Italian stone masons.

As part of the wedding fun, Kimye set up a glamorous black and white wedding photo booth, which guests like Jaden Smith (who showed up wearing a white Batman costume) couldn’t stop taking photos in.

The two reportedly then jetted off to a quiet honeymoon in Ireland, and unlike is the case for most of their big milestone moments, we have yet to see any details or photos from their post-nuptial escape. Five years and four kids later—the parents just welcomed son Psalm West this month—the two remain as devoted to each other as ever.
