This Mother’s Day we’re spotlighting the Dream Baby Registry of Alexia María Esquer, founder of her namesake evening-wear brand—with which we collaborated on the Alexia María & Stephanie Fishwick for Over The Moon capsule earlier this year. She and Ricardo Rubio wed in Mexicali, Mexico, on March 4, 2017. A few years later, they welcomed their first child, Alexia María, who is now three years old, and their second daughter, Camila, who was born only five months ago. “Ever since I became a mother, I am obsessed with children’s clothing and toys!” the mother of two exclaims. “This is my second baby, so I already have the essentials and leaned more towards adding unique baby clothing and statement decor pieces in this registry. I also added a couple of accessories such as Mateo’s aquamarine and pearl earrings. After all, this is my Dream Registry so I made sure to include some items that I can use to master the art of dressing up!”
Bespoke and personalized items are at the top of Alexia María’s Baby Registry. “It always feels more special when something is made for you,” she correctly states. The Laboratorio Paravicini Milano plates with punched interlaced monogram add a personal touch to her table. Another must-add was a custom hand-illustrated chair by Tricia Lowenfield. “My daughter, Alexia María, follows in my footsteps and also loves to see her name monogrammed on everything, so when I saw this piece, it instantly made it to the top of my list,” the evening-wear founder gushes. “I absolutely adore Tricia Lowenfield’s work, she created beautiful custom illustrations for Alexia’s first birthday, and I’ve been a fan of her work since then!”
Alexia María’s two girls’ rooms and wardrobes only slightly differ in aesthetic but are both “timeless, feminine, and fun,” she shares. “Camila’s nursery is a soft pink palette with touches of green hues and delicate bow details adorning every corner. As for Alexia María, now that she just turned three, we redecorated her room with Parisian wallpaper and a pink chandelier to match. The room has evolved to match her personality. She is already choosing what to wear, and I love how she’s creating her own style—she mixes and matches in a very fun way, she loves everything pink!”
Alexia María and Camila’s mom shares that motherhood has differed in so many ways with each child. “My first daughter taught me how to be a mother and showed me the incredible love and bond a mom and daughter can have,” she smiles. “My second daughter has taught me that I am capable of loving even more than I thought! Having a second child has also put things into perspective. With my first daughter, I was always waiting for her next milestone, and I can’t believe she turned three in the blink of an eye. With my second child I am trying to slow down and enjoy every moment of it.”
The Alexia María Founder leaves us with an important tip for mothers and couples making their Over The Moon Baby Registries for the first time: “Make a list of everything you need for your baby, and ask your mom and friends for advice on the best and most used baby products they’ve had. There’s nothing like a mom to mom recommendation. Most importantly though, don’t forget about yourself when making your registry—I included a cute and comfortable nightshirt in mine!”
